Since I am not sure if you mean for ebay or paypal ( or both), please supply a few details behind the question.
Best replies will happen then.

Re: Business account or private account? @Mike6453, how experienced are you with eB...i mean saleswise, yearwise, etc? If not too much - best initial move is for personal account and learn the ropes.. |

Hi, thanks for your reply. I meant for the ebay account.. | I always start out with a personal account.
As soon as the limits get to a decent level, I change to a business account.
It's not difficult. If you are selling a few bits and pieces round the house, use a personal account. If you are importing selling large volumes of merchandise, go for a business account. |
| Mike6453 | 09-10-2013 05:11 AM | Re: Business account or private account? I've been a bit stupid about it if im honest. I upgraded my account to business without really knowing enough about it, i then phoned ebay to change it back to private as i thought it was a bad move. My selling allowences recently went up to 100, i wonder if they'll go down when my account goes back to private? I havent sold any vero items, or any items to sell on yet, just items around the house to build my feedback. Thanks for all your replys. |
Did they change it back? Or cause you problems?
Hopefully not for you OP but limits can be reduced at will by eB |

Not easy to say.
If you are new(ish) to ebay, then realise from now, you can use the forum to ask the questions.
That way you reduce damaging your account and can find out the little tricks without having to experiment and do harm.
Feel free to pm me too at any time.

but for paypal what type of account should one go for when starting off? |
| JamesNorth101 | 09-14-2013 09:28 AM | Re: Business account or private account? I use personal to start and change when the account has had limits removed and is verified.
As soon as I change the PP I also change the EB |
Re: Business account or private account? I start with PP Premier myself usually (individuals who like to buy and sell things) |
| clapclap | 09-14-2013 05:18 PM | Re: Business account or private account? I used to start with a personal eb and pp account but I recently found opening a business eb and pp account is better. Even more so if you open an account selling a high return item such as clothing or furniture as these accounts seem to get abit more slack than others. in my experience anyway.
Good luck with your first stealth. |
| agent-x | 09-15-2013 08:56 AM | Re: Business account or private account? Hmm interesting indeed.
Is there any selling limit differences between the buisiness and personal when initially starting off? And how about in the future, do business accounts get selling limits increased sooner than personal accounts? |
| clapclap | 09-15-2013 01:26 PM | Re: Business account or private account? It seems to vary from account to account but if you plan on keeping the account it is always best to open a business account and attach a fully verified PP account to it. That seems to work well for me. |

| john456 | 09-21-2013 02:13 AM | Re: Business account or private account? Do you need to anything special to turn a personal UK account into a UK business account?
I have a personal UK account that is doing well and I would like to see it grow into a business.
Do I just go into ebay UK and flip a switch to business? Or do I have to create some kind of company structure in the UK first?
thx

| john456 | 09-21-2013 04:37 AM | Re: Business account or private account? Thx oompa!
Do uk businss accounts have threshold you can't go over when running a sole prorietor operation? On ebay france they force you to provide documentation that you have created a legal structure once you reach a certain level of sales (80.000 euros/year) |
| oompaloompa | 09-21-2013 05:01 AM | Re: Business account or private account? there is just the EU £1900 receiving limit same as premier, you then have to send in paperwork, but it can be the regular personal paperwork. The reason I favour it, is purely for office address reasons, no other big advantages for me personally. |
| technokidd1 | 02-26-2016 08:22 PM | Re: Business account or private account? On a business ebay wouldn't eventually ask for a EIN or SSN, while on a personal eBay the will only (In my experience) as for a Photo I.D. along with the basics such as supplier info, etc. | | All times are GMT -5.
