lot of losts letters recently in UK via Royal Mail

hi there
I have recently noticed that Royal Mail don't deliver lot of mails or are delayed or buyers cheat...
I don't send them using tracking service as it still not worth to pay more, because percentage of lost mails cost less than paying for recorded delivery for each item.
but there is really something strange. from August much more lost than before.
I noticed also that on AZ there is not a problem.
do you guys think that buyers from ebay cheat? because with no tracking number I cannot proof anything. I have only proof of posting from post office. that means nothing for ebay.

It's a combination of dishonest buyers, dishonest Royal Mail workers and incompetent Royal Mail workers.

Recorded delivery items always get received (well in about 99.9% of cases).

Sign of the times, really.

thank you for your reply
I am shocked people are such dishonest on eb especially :/
I know even that recorded delivery sometimes are just put in mailbox without signature, so there is no option to proof it is delivered. bless its strange...

are you sending from poland? could be the postal service on your side - which is highly possible.

if it happens on Uk side it is mainly customer dishonesty, vast majority of corrrectly addressed stuff gets delivered, they mess with foreign sellers more....and it is the same worldwide, people feel they can get away with it more if seller is abroad.

generally UK is honest, all my UK sent stuff is received, very very high honesty rate if sent within UK.

I rarely have issue with the RM. 99% of the time my items get to where they were posted.

Has been an increase in recorded items getting posted though letter boxes without a signature however which is getting a bit annoying.

Cheap service though, being able to post something to the other side of the country and it getting there the next day for as little as 50p is very impressive so I cannot complain too much.

The post office on the other hand is a real pain. Woefully slow these days.

I don't know what is going on...

RM has changed the recorded or as its now known as "signed for" service. They dont guarantee a signature and the item can now be left with a neighbour too.

It makes the whole service just less usable. Many of my items have arrived and got +ive feedback where as the tracking still says its in the delivery network due to a signature not being obtained. Very frustrating!

Still RM do offer this about their signed for service:

"Royal Mail Signed For™ will provide you with proof of delivery and is recognised as a eligible service to PayPal’s and eBay’s Seller Protection Programmes."

That's of course if they get the signature!

As you get more experience annamaria, you will not be shocked by the amount of dishonesty going on - just have to aim at reducing....buyers can be ruthless

Approximately what number of items are not getting delivered?

Is this from a specific area where your mail is going missing?

Had a situation where too high a number of parcels were not making it to their different addresses.

Turned out to be issues within the RM at the despatch area. Changed office.
Issues dropped off.

Maybe you could consider that.

It absolutely IS a big lot to get lost for you.

It means your business is interrupted with postal problems. That means an ebay account can have issues.

Can you check with the person who is doing your UK postage. Make sure they are sending the mail. Tell them to complain at the Post Office. See if they can find out anything.

I hope there is a good answer for you.

I get about 1 in 100 "go missing" so your stats are worrying.

Re: lot of losts letters recently in UK via Royal Mail

yes, and it start about two months ago to have such lost.
not everyday, but twice a week

the person sending goods I trust, proof of posting is recorded every time.
maybe should change post office...

Re: lot of losts letters recently in UK via Royal Mail

hi there, so I know whats happened.
its a shame because when my friend who are sending goods for me within UK went to Post Office and wanted to make a complain because of the losts, and then they finally admit they have busy days and letters which suppost to be post on 5 Sept, they sent on 7th!
its ridiculous
but I am happy I know whats going on.
