24hr Holds ??
 

As as lot of places have started accepting paypal i thought i would have a paypal account with just an entropay card linked that some of my ebay sales and few other payments could go into as a sort of private spending fund for me...lol



So i sold a few things on ebay (one that i set up to use with this paypal account) and sent them off straight away with trackable post so that the funds would be released 3 days after delivery.


While waiting i received a payment that was sent to me as a service for a service i had done for somebody.

On the same day i had to send someone a payment for goods but the payment wouldn't go through.


So i gave paypal a call and they said that it was because i was trying to send the payment before it say in my account for 24 hours, they also said that it would help if i linked a bank account to the account (not sure it this is true or they just wanted me to link a bank account?) so i linked a bank account and i could send the money after 24 hours. I had instant access to the other funds once the items on ebay were delivered.


My question is.....

Would my ebay funds have been instantly available after they had been delivered or would i have had to wait 24 hours?


I know all holds are a bit hit and miss but i just want to know the general rule of thumb.

Ah, there is the rub.

No general rule of thumb.

confused.com! You were not using a verified & confused paypal?

I have that and have few issues.

It is a matter of your account appearing 'secure' to paypal.

I didn't bother verifying the account as the “limits” on the paypal account wouldn't be reached.



Do you think the funds that were held under the 21 day hold would have still been held for another 24 hours after they had been released with the tracking numbers?

Not a given to always have funds released even with tracking numbers.

It appears just one of the paypal games to slow down our business.

Yeah they always find a way to throw a spanner in the works.


I'm use to the 21day holds but this is the first time I've even seen the 24 hour one.


So in theory, are you saying that if the funds get released with the tracking numbers then they should be instantly available without having to wait another 24 hours ?

That's how i thought the 21 day hold has always worked.


Like i say, its not the 21 day hold that I'm questioning its this 24 hour one I've never experienced before.

So has anyone ever had their funds held for a further 24 hours after they had them released from the 21 day hold?

To be honest I've never seen it but then with new accounts I generally dont monitor the hold that closely as I just sell nik-nak stuff just to build the history on it, I'm not bother about the collecting the money from new accounts for a couple of months.

Going back to your original post, I actually have a PP card that's linked to my PP balance on my main good account I have real details with. It allows me to use it just like any other prepaid card and it uses the cleared PP balance. I'm surprised PP haven't promoted this as much but then I guess for stealth accounts its not going to be much good.
