I remember years ago, eB (pinks) used to be an active part of the forum, but not anymore it seems.. although they obviously still read them.

Doesnt really affect the search rating but it is quite possible the competitor just has been working with the yellow warning on his image and is still able to list

What I don't understand is all the Chinese seller who say they are from the UK and eB do nothing about it? They don't always ship from the UK either, going by their poor feedback..

If they ever ban them selling on UK eB then everyone will be quids in.!

That's because ebay don't actually have bots patrolling for that. Most of those chinese sellers use dropshippers, which is basically a warehouse in the UK that ships it for the seller for a commission.

The problem is those other chinese sellers who ⊗⊗⊗⊗ their UK location and actually send items directly from china, which is when all hell breaks loose with the feedback, and then they get shut down by eBay.
The main problem is these chinese sellers simply run off with the money once the account is shut down and re-open another one. Not to mention annoying a lot of genuine buyers who believe they're getting a fantastic deal on price.

eBay needs to get some bots to

for chinese non-dropshippers

When they do, it could get very interesting for genuine UK sellers.

Everything I've researched seems swamped with cheap Chinese sellers, as you all probably know.

I'll just stick to my main business I guess, and experiment with small imports to start with.

Just need to get these stealth accounts going, looks like it's going to be a very sloooow process

Hopefully I can get some test listings on tomorrow, for 7 days, just not stopped today it seems.

Listed a couple of 7 day listings today, BIN, reduced quantities per variation to 10, so 600 available.. let's see how it goes...

I think you should try even smaller quantities, to make sure you get that "almost gone" banner. I usually get it at just under 10 items left, i.e. 9, 8, etc.

I believe that's when the system automatically sets you to "on fire" mode and bumps your search rank, along with promotion on other ebay banners, including the home page.

Maybe all these variations in my listings, although helpful to the customer, are hindering my success?

Do you mean colour options? Or bundles, addons, etc.
Like let's say an umbrella + case + logo + shoelace - option?

Colors I do believe are fine, however I personally just create a new listing per color, but that's because the particular category I sell on does not have variation support. And for some reason I have noticed that some colors list higher in the search (the titles are the exact same except the variation of "orange", "red", "blue" etc.)

There are even sellers who create the same listing x2 x3 sometimes x4, mildly changing the title, and changing the pictures for each listing, according to ebay rules it is legal to make x2, but no-one patrols it and as such most survive a long time. The benefit is more chance for exposure and some can be listed higher.

I think your right and on to something. I had an item which was of average performance suddenly jumped when I qualified for "on fire" mode. Interesting thing is, I increased the price to a stupid amount (29.99 from 2.99) so I could stall and get some more stock in (this way the listing wouldn't end either being a GTC) and I'm still getting page views and watchers!

Eventually the views to sales ratio will only go against me so soon as the stock is in, ill revert but the watchers can only be a good thing since watchers does help increase the listings rank. Maybe there's a exploit here?

I have recently done this with my top selling item, only difference being was the list of "compatibles" so it shows slightly different to the other listing. I also put this on a 30 day as oppose to its GTC counterpart so this will be interesting to compare month on month between the two.

I have a lot of duplicates, have done for a while, different styles of listing but basically the same item.

The variations are for colour and size options (don't want to give too much away), and because I expect them to stay on there for a while I put the quantities up so I don't run out of stock of a colour.

I really don't think this is working with Cassini, although I've not noticed a massive drop in sales due to listing lost of new items recently, but the newer stuff is selling, the older stuff isn't...

I still think they have a maximum threshold for sales, seems odd that I take nearly the same amount every day, no matter how much I have listed.

Customer's like the variations, they can choose what they want without having to email their options after the purchase (like other sellers')... just not sure if it suits cassini or not?

3 day BIN 5 day BIN even 7 day BIN raise your search ranking considerably.

3 raises it the most, however it does mean you will lose any sales history every 3 days and will have to re-list. Having your own ebay shop means relisting is free.

Auctions still rank higher than ever, so to get customer flow I suggest running auctions pretty much continually, it will get customers to look at your other items, store, etc.

DSR's have a big impact on your search ranking, try to keep it as high as possible
