| luckoftheirish93 | 09-27-2013 09:17 AM | cheeky sellers had a cheeky seller today with 28000 feedback who reported me for feedback extortion as i asked him why my item had not arrived and was late even though "apparently" they posted it, now the seller has 28000 feedback so should know better, lets just say he will get some nice bad feedback and a case to look forward too which obviously will affect unresolved cases when i keep the case going and also i reported him to ebay
some amount of cheek and bad manners from ebay sellers and buyer these days, any thoughts on this, bad feedback is given so easily these days by buyers without a seconds communication to the seller and add that to the fact people don't like paying 4 items anymore,
any else have any other stories of bad buyers/sellers? |
| JamesNorth101 | 09-27-2013 09:23 AM | Re: cheeky sellers Your going to give someone bad feedback because the post may be delayed?
Not going to get much sympathy from me, negative feedback could only be left in extreme cases IMO. |
| uscool | 09-27-2013 10:03 AM | Re: cheeky sellers Hi, i only ever left 1 negative in all my time on ebay, and i been joined over 8 years, if item was posted not late and delayed because of post service thats not his fault , always try to communicate, whenever i had issues i always communicate and all times problem resolved ,
i also sell on stealth and some buyers just try to play you all the way, just dont understand some people have no sense of guilt , just happy they are rare
also i dont know how some sellers sell and post just by normal post not recorded, they must be people out there just go to the normal post shipped items and say not received how sad,
my stuff everything is recorded as cant do with that hassle
Thanks |
| Geegee83 | 09-27-2013 10:16 AM | Re: cheeky sellers I don't send via Recorded, it's not economically viable to do so with what I sell. Time / cost hassle would be increased by sending it tracked.
I should think there are plenty of seller like me that don't send Recorded.
Pretty short sighted view of the world if you presume every seller is the same as you.
What an odd post. |
| An0nym0u$ | 09-27-2013 10:17 AM | Re: cheeky sellers This is exactly what is wrong with eBay & the feedback system.
As a buyer, you should know delivery times vary. Just because you purchased an item, doesn't mean it will be at your doorstep instantly. Factors in delivery, which are not controlled by the seller, will affect the time it takes item to reach its destination.
The fact that the seller reported you for feedback extortion leads me to believe there are some details in your side of the story that is not being provided.
As a buyer, you (unfortunately) have ability to ruin a perfectly good seller's reputation by manipulating the system that is in place. If you feel leaving negative feedback is your way of winning the battle between you and seller, then that's your decision, but I don't condone this behavior whatsoever.
Solving a disagreement between buyer/seller needs to be done amicably and professionally by both parties. |
| Futuremogul888 | 09-27-2013 10:28 AM | Re: cheeky sellers I don't agree with negative feedback on the basis that the item is late based on Ebay's delivery calculations because:
1) Ebay's shipping calculations are prejudicial towards make it look like it will get there faster (They show the most ideal set of shipping circumstances). They are often off by a 1-3 days.
2) Package may be delayed by no fault of the seller rather the crappy postal service.
I however do agree with giving a seller a negative feedback if you inquired about the delay and he was rude/unprofessional in anyway. Just because we are sellers ourselves doesn't mean we should give a seller the benefit of the doubt when the seller doesn't deserve it. Sellers should always provide the most professional and diligent customer service or they should expect negative feedback. |
| tmastermind | 09-27-2013 10:36 AM | Re: cheeky sellers Geegee is right, I originally used recorded but since RM completely nerfed the service your just paying and extra £1.10 for absolutely nothing!
They dont guarantee you a signature and they dont even guarantee they will leave it with the intended person (they can leave it with a neighbour etc).
I've had recorded items go missing just as with the normal mail service and all the tracking will tell you is that is being "processed in the delivery network"
I always use the post office for my shipments and just use 1st class standard and always get a proof of posting. This is just as good as proof than recorded but £1.10 cheaper which means £1.10 more profit! Until I reach the threshold of using a 3rd party courier that provides pick-up and full tracking, I have to stick with queueing with RM but its the cheapest option currently. |

| JamesNorth101 | 09-27-2013 01:11 PM | Re: cheeky sellers I will only post recorded if its a replacement item because the buyer says the first one got lost, or if I make more than a certain amount of profit on the item.
Most items under £20 are sent standard mail |

| JamesNorth101 | 09-27-2013 01:18 PM | Re: cheeky sellers Less than 1 in 20 lucky for me :) Works out at 2% at most on any one account, so still works out more profitable overall to not send items recorded |

| jeffweico | 09-27-2013 09:04 PM | Re: cheeky sellers I both buy and sell, and my philosophy has always been that negative feedback should only be used as a last resort AFTER trying to work the problem out with the other party FIRST. |

For these reasons I avoid ebay purchases as often as possible. Dont need the flack because of another seller. | I agree with GB on this one. Given the choice of purchasing on eBay or Amazon, I would rather purchase on Amazon. Quite often, Amazon has the lower price anyway - which surprised me when I first considered them as an option to purchasing on eBay. |
| jeffweico | 09-27-2013 09:13 PM | Re: cheeky sellers I also have to add, however, that I have had few problems purchasing on eBay. I also try to go above and beyond for my customers as a seller. Usually, I can work it out with them.
SOMETIMES, though, a buyer is just impossible to please. One recently left me a negative feedback after sending me three NASTY emails. All because an item (a cheap one, no less) was damaged in transit. I offered to replace it, I apologized for the inconvenience and what was the buyer's response? A negative feedback along with a lengthy message about how he was going to report me to eBay and the BBB to protect customers from me since I was "obviously" selling damaged items. When I checked their feedback left for others, I noticed they have a problem with about 10% of their purchases. In other words, the buyer was just looking for any reason to complain. |
| GreenBean | 09-27-2013 09:58 PM | Re: cheeky sellers @jeffweico
Type that turns up here and complains about being suspended as a buyer.
 |
| john456 | 09-28-2013 02:47 AM | Re: cheeky sellers I sometimes have nightmares about selling to 'EL DIABLO BUYERO", the famous ebay buyer who will leave negative feedback even after receiving his first purchase for free, the replacement for free, sent you an insulting email 5 min after his purchase on a Sunday wondering where is his item and in then end wants compensation on top of everything for the time, pain and suffering he endured while buying from you. |
| GreenBean | 09-28-2013 04:28 AM | Re: cheeky sellers El Diablo Buyero are why we have memories.
As if they merit compensation. As if.

my buyer accs are important to me, accessible addresses are precious, I will not draw attention to them and drop casual negs, I will use the veiled threat of feedback, without actually mentioning it, when negotiating my delayed or not as described item...
as a seller I have to swallow refunds to make a buyer happy..so what irritates me the most as a buyer is when the item is very snad or wrong one sent etc and the seller insists on making me return it when it is their fault, and if the cost to return is too much, it makes it not worthwhile...if they will not send another for free or refund or pay for return...and I have given them a chance to, sorry they get a neg... |

As a seller, I always offer to pay for return shipping if it is my fault (or even the USPS fault) as long as it is sent at the normal first class rate and NOT overnight, or some other ridiculously expensive service.
As a buyer, I have not had many problems. And when they DO occur, the sellers were willing to work it out. Of course, I always check feedback BEFORE making a purchase. Not just the percentages, but the reasons for the negative. Someone complaining about a shipping delay or other nonsense, I just disregard. But if the negatives are for SNAD or worse, counterfeits, then I stay away. If a seller has 5,000 positives and 1 person claims counterfeits, that does not bother me. But some of these sellers have like 250 positives and 10 complaints about counterfeits. I don't understand how they get away with it. The bottom line is, if I am not comfortable with the seller, I just find another one. I'd rather pay a little extra and have peace of mind. |

I left a few neg through out the years. Last one was: I ordered 100 candles from this wholesaler.... got 5 in the mail with a tracking number... and no response... |
| Bolt83 | 10-07-2013 11:49 AM | Re: cheeky sellers The seller clearly hasn't got 28000 feedback for being a bad seller !
Leaving neg feeback for INR might make other sellers think twice about selling to you. |
