Gmail - Check your settings
 

Just in case you are not aware gmail have changed the default setting for external images to now display automatically. This is being applied to all accounts now regardless of your current settings.

Make sure you change it to "ask before opening" to avoid any issues with web beacons.

I haven't noticed this on mine yet. Good to check though.

Did you start to notice images displaying on emails that previously did not display them?

No, a message from Gmail about the change popped up when I logged in to my account.

I do not think you can disable external contents to be dilplayed anymore but at least you can set them to "ask permission for" like this:

Login to Gmail
Click on the little "wheel" on the top right corner.
Select "Settings" (about halfway down the list)
Three lines down, look for "external content"
Click the radio button for "Ask before displaying external content"

is this for all users or new users ?

i thought your old account settings would remain.

At least they seem to have on mine.

Will keep an eye on it though .

You will eventually get a pop up, as it is across the board.

I just got the same pop up on a ten year old account and be careful if you use the keyboard rather than the mouse as the pop up is set to OK or accept or what ever it is. And you have to select go to settings option on the pop up.
