new ebay user name
 

When registering a new account is it possible to choose your own user name rather than have the generated username ebay gives out? Is this something new, as when I last created an account maybe 6 months ago there was always the option to choose a user name, which was always also the case in the many years I have used ebay?

They auto-assign you an ID when you sign up. If want to change it just go into the Personal Information tab.

Ah ok , thanks for that. I had done that and changed the name but the original auto-assigned ID was virtually the name I used broken up with an underscore!! haha. Oh well I will keep that in mind for future ones. Thanks again, sorted!

The manual says as a Tip to use the same name as one's email when opening an eBay account.

Can people testify to that? Just wondering how much that matters if at all.
Because, in that case I'd need to create a new email as I can't imagine opening an eBay account with the current email address name I have
