can I use a 3 sim card from a smartphone

Can i use a 3 sim card from a smart phone with unlimited tethering and internet in a dongle or will 3 stop me?
I NEED A NEW SIM TO TETHER AND DONGLES SEEM TO ALLOW ABOUT 3gb ONLY

3 sims supplied for smartphones with an unlimited data package will not normally work in a dongle or mifi device.

The sims are not provisioned for these devices so in answer to your question, yes, 3 effectively block such usage by virtue of the way their sims/network detect the device they are being used in
