Advice about ebay name/address change + paypal..
 

So guys, i have taken over a business and the ebay account registration name and address is in the old owners name.

The primary postage address

post from address

are all still in the last owners name and address 500 miles away from where i live.

I have a fresh new paypal account in my name and address and so far i have changed the ebay primary return address.

Please tell me your thoughts on changing the other reg address, postage address, post from address in ebay to match my paypal details?

And do you advise on linking paypal into ebay? I think i read its advised to do so but at the moment the name and address's are different you see..

Really appreciate your input.

Seems odd to buy a used account, but if they do a lot of online sales, and it was part of some agreement, that would actually help you a lot. But then again nothing new.

If you open another account and link it, it will be a lot more issues imo since it will seem suspicious.

Hopefully you did not use a "good" address in the account you used to set it up.
As I would have just changed info little by little on the PP. Or gave them a call and said you were planning on moving, so you wanted to change the info - so they make sure it does not raise flags that a lot of info was changed at one point.

Then add say a PO box to the PP for returns, etc.

Since you bought the account from a business, I am assuming it is in a business name? If it is in a real name - some one else can advise you on here what to do. Changing it would bring up a red flag, but leaving it would probably be best.

You should only really use the PP that the EB has already used in the past - You can have a few issues if you attach a new PP to an old EB. You will also have to sell slowly, so even though its an aged EB account you will have to sell on it like a new EB account on account of PP.

All you really are hoping is that users will say great idea.

Changing info will flag the account. Any & all changes will mean ebay looking closer at the account.

You have to be very careful.

Of course we all want to hear the positive answers but it doesnt work like that half the time. I know its not the best scenario to buy a old ages account and link a new pp with different info, but its done now and the reason to post really is to see what method i should change the info.

Unfortunately i have to live with what i have now, the aged old eb account and a new pp different names..etc.

Whats your thoughts on changing all the name and address info on eb?

The more changes you make the more you increase the risk of a manual review and subsequently a limitation.

It's your call really.

You have to decide if your willing to take the risk now or just carry on as you are and wait for the bots to pick up on the discrepancies between accounts which they will eventually.

The whole set up is flawed and will probably not survive a manual review regardless of changes made to make all the reg info match.

Not much more to be said really.

It is definitely a bad idea, but maybe if you were able to leave the name the same and call up to PP and tell them your planning on moving, etc - then you may be fine changing a lot of it.

But the odds are you will get a person that does not know what they are doing, say "ok" and then you will get manually reviewed later.. if anything fishy at all, they can suspend you. Especially if they believe you traded/sold accounts.

Set up a new pp with the same name attached on the eb?

It was too late from the moment you attached the new p/p account.

Best advice: Create completely new stealth accounts with absolutely no links to any existing ones.

You are going to need them sooner or later.

I have been looking into this, how did you get on with the new pp you attached any issues? I see on ebay businesses for sale including ebay account with feedback, history etc which adds to a businesses sale potential if you don't have a well established ebay account, so it must be done a lot, but what is likelihood of getting reviewed?

Is there paperwork to prove the transfer of assets and legal rights?

the address is easy to change on both, the name is not.

is it a business name or a persons name? if it is a business acc, you can play with the 1 letter auto change option, maybe register a business in those details, as your proofs....

Its a business name I'm looking to add so that paperwork all tallys up. I can provide proof of business ownership but what docs do they need? Can you just add an new paypal to the ebay account you bought would that be easier than changing a paypal account over?

I'm quite in the same case but on my side, I plan to buy a new EB acc but as I understand it might be smarter to buy the PP attached. My question is : what is the best way to change info of those acc ?

Welcome to the forums - always dangerous to change registration info - do you have any ideas you want to discuss about what you think the approach could be?

you now have an option to change see below:

We are unable to change the name on a PayPal account to a different person's name. To use PayPal, you can open a new PayPal account.

You can make a minor name change on your PayPal account if you registered using a nickname, a fictitious name or made a typographical error.

you have 4 options:
Personal Name Change (marriage, divorce, legal)
Personal Name Change (incorrect at signup or minor name change)
Business Name Change (change contact name)
Business Name Change (business name)

anyone had any experience using any of these, I basically want to change my stealth into a business name that marries up with my business for accounting purposes.
