| | | MidgeFragnet | 02-09-2014 05:50 AM | Tips with the PayPal debit card I've been offered a PayPal debit card on my account but the address I used to register my account in the 1st place is a dud one and I do not want the card and pin sent there. If when applying for the card I amend the address, will that necessitate me verifying that new address with a paper bill etc?
Thanks for any help. |
Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card Answer: possibly - nothing is 100%. How long have you had the pp account? |
| MidgeFragnet | 02-09-2014 07:08 PM | Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card It's been working for about a year now. |
| unkown5454 | 02-09-2014 09:35 PM | Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card Done it before myself. As long as my CC matched it and confirmed, never had a problem changing where they send the card. I am in USA, but I don't think that matters much in this case. |
| MidgeFragnet | 02-10-2014 04:14 AM | Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card Thanks for the reply. Sorry for sounding a bit dense here but can you explain what you mean by your credit card "matching it"? |
| unkown5454 | 02-10-2014 04:26 AM | Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card Sure.
Add the new address. Make it primary/home and confirm it with a new credit card, VCC, or prepaid card. Then that becomes the new addy when you request your debit card.
Real accounts versus ste/alth is very, very different. Operating a real is the easiest thing in the world. You should not have to worry about repeatedly having to confirm identity on a real account. |

Thanks for any help. | Personally I wouldn't touch p/p's debit card with a barge pole for the simple reason that it means I have to leave my cash in the account to be able to use it.
It takes 30 seconds to transfer my cash to my bank account where it is then safe from their clutches.
Why on earth would anyone want to leave their hard earned money with p/p any longer than is necessary? |

Thanks for any help. | I'd avoid it with an even bigger barge pole.
They will credit check you, find nothing and decline.
Not to mention any possible effects that will have on your account. |

Have you read the fine print of the offer and what paypal uk will do?
If your account is stealth, then avoid this card.
Not worth the issues that are going to happen.
Good Luck with your choice.

Thanks for any help. | You might want to amend the address, see that it "took" with no problems, then wait some time (maybe a week?) before applying for the card.
FYI I have the UK Paypal Access card. Never had a credit check upon applying so far as I know (my UK credit history is virtually non-existent, though nothing bad there either). In the two years since getting the card I charged my real UK address twice with no problems, with my third address being "virtual". Again, no problems. |

I have read the Stealth Guide but not yet created parallel stealth accounts, though I will be doing so in the near future.
One thing I've noticed about the UK PP Access card in the USA. It's very finicky about what/where you run transactions. I can buy groceries, and I can even pull out cash using the PIN, it won't run at electronics stores, and some shops even at piddling amounts like $8 the card is declined even with the correct PIN. Complete hit and miss. I notice the card agreement mentions you can't used at petrol stations, that's true, but it won't run at all kinds of other shops/services even when there's no delivery address involved, and even when the amounts are small. |
| MidgeFragnet | 02-14-2014 12:40 PM | Re: Tips with the PayPal debit card My PayPal account is in a friend's name who opened it for me. It is fully verified but with a now redundant registered address. If I'm to obtain the PayPal card, I need it to be sent to ANOTHER address obviously. If I opened an accommodation address for this purpose, would this be wise? | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:59 AM. | |
