Just A Heads Up !!
 

But I just wanted to give you guys a quick heads up.


I opened a stealth PayPal account a couple of weeks ago and a couple of days ago I received this email from paypal:

Your bank has let us know that you can’t use your bank account ending in **** to fund PayPal payments. If you already have a card linked to your PayPal account, we’ll use it to fund your future payments.


Maybe they tried to take something like 1p from the account and it has been flagged and they now know my real details from the bank account.

I'm not sure but if I find out anything then I'll post back.

What type of bank account is it?

Current, savings ect

It was a savings account but they shouldn't know that unless they tried to take funds from it.

Saving accounts reject DD mandates. That is why you have had that message. Nothing to do with taking funds from accounts.

Hmmm...

I've never received that email in the past when using saver accounts.

Does that mean they now have the real details on the bank account?

Also will i still be able to withdraw to the account?

Should still be fine to use but make sure PP never tries to draw from the bank account.

Generally it is best to use a current account or a savings that does accept the DD mandate.

What are you taking about?

paypal will know by the sort number what type of account it is.

No bank account types are unknown to paypal.

Like I said, I don't know what the message means (I'm just guessing) but I just wanted to give you guys a heads up as I've never received this email before and I've never seen it mentioned on the forum.

This PayPal account also hasn't been linked to eBay yet so I've not submitted any DD request's.

So do you think they just sent this email because of the sort code ?

Yeah I never give PayPal a reason to take funks out of a bank account.

I just thought it could be a new tactic...lol

I have advised users to avoid using savers.

That covers the issue for me.

Account is not used on ebay. It's an experimental one.

Not in Canada. My bank account linked to my legit PayPal is savings and works well both ways.

There is something different from the account being savings.

UK does differ form the other countries.


Way back when, we never recommend 'savings' for the UK. Always went for current or basic accounts.

Idea is to have a bank account attached that attracts a limited amound of attention.

I already have a "savings" account attached to my PP account as one of my 3 bank options.

This is a Santander account.

PP does not seem to have any problems using it as a funding sounce when I have no actual finds available in my PP account.

This s not a stealth account and has been going for 8+ years.
