99p postage from hongkong wow!!

I don’t know how it’s possible to pay for a jiffy bag, processing and delivering anything from Hong Kong for £0.99
and still make money but as a buyer that doesn’t bother me.
What does worry me is how I’m going to be able to compete with those sorts of prices
I need to get out of ripoff great Britain now:s

Re: 99p postage from hongkong wow!!

Depends what 99p is worth in hong kong. For all we know it could buy you a house.

Or be a weeks wages

There is one of those new european countries that just got in where the average wage is a hundred pound a month and there are some countries where that would be luxury when they are on about 47p a day wages.

The Chinese sellers on eBay blow us out of the water there prices are low and no one in the UK can compete with them

Re: 99p postage from hongkong wow!!

many these kind of prices will be power sellers. actually making a loss these items just to keep the % feedbacks above average. and keep in good health, it makes great sense and good thought, as it "works", losing a few dollar here and there to keep making great profits on other items,

and competing with cn sellers, ?? yes it makes things harder, but in my experience (14+ years) not always the lower price gets the sales, in fact, on the "right" items, the lower prices look too good to be true which will deter a good % of buyers, i sold so many items higher price then cn sellers and sold so much more then cn sellers on many items, , if done correct then weather you a cn seller low price or a eu etc seller high, is not the issue, :)
its how you advertise and what you advertise,

advertise correct = sales , :) low or high,

also a quick note, many euro buyer not like ship from cn, as delivery times etc, so buyers will gladly pay higher price if ship from within eu and not cn,

so cn competition??? if you have competition and not competing??? then time to change plans/products.

if you also ship same items direct from cn and so does competition, then not the right way/product. .

LOWEST PRICE NOT MEAN MOST SALES. ;) ;) FACT
:)

How Aldi won the class war - and became the fastest-growing supermarket in Britain

In a recession low price wins hands down an thats why Adli is the fastest chain
and tesco is not

Is this a stevebills moan session?

Let me get the violin.

People work out business plans to do well.

They gave away the moaning and then started to succeed.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the Chinese Government gives the factories free shipping to encourage exports, can you imagine that anywhere else haha, I'd love a bit of free shipping.

It can't be sustainable though surely?

I bought a lovely set of mini post it labels from China the other day, 99p for the item, free postage, crazy!

ash213 07-24-2014 04:52 AM

Re: 99p postage from hongkong wow!!

I would suggest that most sellers in the UK, Europe and the US that sell items with a price under a few £ or $ are drop shipping.

I highly doubt that import the physical stock as it wouldnt be worth it.

And i agree with what some one said above about taking a loss.

I do it with some accounts. Sell items below value just to keep sales going on the account, makes the account look active.

For example i have an account that has a 130 limit. What do i do? I sell 130 items at £1 , give or take a loss of a few pence. The account will cost me a few quid a month to keep running and look active. Whole stock of some BS product that sells through the roof and will gaurauntee to sell within a few days so i dont have to worry about the account for the rest of the month.

Hopefully within a couple of months that account will have bigger limits.

There are ways chaps.

Rinse and repeat.

Originally used as the tagline for a very cheap beef-flavoured noodle product which was safe for vegetarians. The phrase is now used to describe that there is no meat in a product.

It is not the price they have to pay to send to you that matters to most ebay buyers, it is how much it is going to cost them to send it back, when it does not do what they say on the tin.

It is also that knock on the door by the postman, saying you have a charge to pay when the package is opened at the borders before you even get the damned thing.

because china realise its good for business

Unlike the U.K where there killing export trade for small businesses because of sky high fee's

even USA Sellers are talking advantage of our own downfalls, Just look at at laptops on ebay for a good example.
