Managed Returns

Hi

When eBay start the new managed returns, could I put my nans address as the return address? It's never been used on any eBay or PayPal account and she hasn't even got a computer, internet or even know how to use it so she'll never want to open one in her name & address anyway

She lives in Merseyside though, & my stealth account (what's been active for 3+ years) is in Yorkshire. Would that be a problem or can you use any return address as long as it hasn't been used before on a banned/other account?

Thanks

Hi nat,

Long time, no see. :)

The Merseyside address will be fine to use as a returns address. No challenges / questions will arise from this due to the different locations.

Hey stranger :)

Thanks so much for the fast response! I was so worried about what address to list

So basically, it doesn't matter where the location is, as long as the address hasn't been used on a banned or another account? Brill :)

Hi GreenBean :) Long time no speak!

What would I put as the name? My eBay stealth name but my nans address?

Hope that makes sense :)

Re: Managed Returns

Dont use a name, juat use the address.

When using a name, issues arise when the item cant be delivered so ends up at the royal mail depot. To pick the item up, you need a driving license or passport in said persons name.

Similarly if you use your ebay account name, you need a chequebook or conpany id in that name!

Something to think about.

Re: Managed Returns

Of course you can arrange redelivery as a workaround, but its not ideal if you cant guarantee when youl be home.

Re: Managed Returns

Yes I understand where you're coming from.

However, all my items I sell are flat packed so they're very easily pushed through a letterbox. It costs me 90p first class to send them off.

& I doubt many customers if returning items will send them recorded as it would cost more than the cost of the actual item :)

Would using my nans name with her address raise suspicion with eBay? My nan has a passport & utility bills for proof of address incase the parcel ever got returned to the Royal Mail depot but like I said it would be very rare as every item I sell fits through a letterbox easily! x

I use return address stickers on packaging with no name

Re: Managed Returns

Is that what you'll do when the new managed returns comes on the 13th? Just put an address & no name? I might do the same. That's if they allow you to just put an address with no name..

Re: Managed Returns

And don't use the address again on other stealths - if you have :)

Re: Managed Returns

Not in relation to the OP's question, however info for others.

If the returns address on eBay isn't changed to an address that user has access to, and the buyer doesn't see the returns sticker on the packaging, the buyer can print a returns label direct from eBay without having to open a case in the resolution centre. Thus meaning, that the item being returned will be sent back to an address that user doesn't have access to.

Crucial to always have access to an address.
