First items to list.. Stay away from brand names?

After having an account hit with an MC999 straight away, due to selling custom made items as a biz, I've started a fresh and opened a new account to simply clear my house and make some spare change.

I'd noticed with some other accounts, certain words (i.e. brand names) raise red flags before submission.

Let's say I have a 'gucci' belt to sell, or an 'xbox' accessory - do you suggest I stay away from listing them as a new account, to prevent any reviews or requests from EB?

I also need to get rid of some old phones, nothing expensive, maybe £10/£15 each. But again they're mobiles, so do you think it's too risky for first items?

Thanks!

I would stay away from the brand names on a new account - especially anything that is hugely popular or hugely counterfeited.

After the account has been open for awhile you can sell some stuff, but there are always certain things to avoid. Just search the forums for "VERO". Reading those posts should alert you to what people have had problems with.

Thanks, I've had a quick read. I'll stay away for now - don't want to risk it!

You can list these above items if your items are original. To start off use these as "used" item. Put some realistic descriptions. Such as " My wife/husband got it for me, used few time. Got a new pair and don't think I will be using it anymore of this" or " New item and barely used" something like this. I usually do this with name brand items on a new account.

Last week I had to go through this. Got MC999 called in and told the rep. that I got this item for my wife and used it few times and she did not like it so decided to sell on Ebay...lol . Asked for limit raise, it went from 10/1000 to 50/2500...Guess I was lucky that day..Well, account is legit and PP verified w/ diff. address.

Good advice, I'll keep that in mind for when I do list. Will stick with the non-branded items for now as I want to avoid having to call up straight away.
