Epson ink out of date

I sold an Epson ink out of date by mistake and best way to handle it so i can get positive feedback?
do i tell him to keep it and send him £5 to paypal for his time wasted?

Re: Epson ink out of date

How about sending a replacement ink that is in date. Or even sending 2 sets of in date ink to make up for the mistake.

Need to start to use a bit of common sense on problems like this.

If you're asking questions like this you really shouldn't be in business. Sorry to put it like that but you need to look at a solution to the problem.

Refund in full and send free cartridges - customer comes first, always.

Why £5? is that how much he paid for it?

Re: Epson ink out of date

Isn't that feedback extortion?

Ask him what you can do to put it right..

JamesNorth101 09-07-2014 11:41 AM

Re: Epson ink out of date

How much does it cost you wholesale? I would think it would be less than £45.

It is one of the costs of business.

These days a neutral is not much better than a neg, so you really need to be aiming to get a pos for this transaction. If that means giving away £30 or so worth of ink then so be it. It will be worth it in the long run on the account, and ultimately it was your mistake that caused this issue.

If the buyer paid £45 for the ink as new and you only offer him a £5 compensation when you sent expired ink.. i really think it will turn around and bite you... you have to decide what means more to you. Your account or the loss of £45 on this ink.

Why are you selling 'new' ink that went out of date 3 years ago anyway? Surely if you dont state that in the advert you are crying for negatives??

New just means it's sealed and never been used, which was the case with the ink cartridges OP was selling. He simply didn't even realize it was expired, which was a mistake on his part.

If you already knew what you were going to do.. what is the point of the thread?

You really should re-think this, If you had bought expired ink, how would you feel after paying £45??

Expired ink can damage a printer, and also the ink can be dry.. Do the honest think here and replace it or refund the person.

Re: Epson ink out of date

Dude...

put yourself in the buyers position. You ran out of ink but found a great deal on Ebay

You buy it for £45 and think great i can finally get my printer working.. only for it to turn up out of date and dry

The only honorable thing is to refund the buyer after he has returned the out of date ink to you. If it was you.. you would expect nothing less.. and in my humble opinion to say "i can absorb 1 negative" on your account means you really really just don't care you have effectively defrauded someone

and to be so against refunding them makes me wonder if you knew already the ink was out of date....

As an executive candidate i would think you should hold up the ideals of this forum in everything that it stands for.. honest people that Ebay has gotten rid of for no reason... not sell hooky stuff that you know is bad goods :pout:

Stop resisting everyone and refund the poor guy :violin:

Cheers

Yes Well as everyone has been saying.. refund the guy £45 or send him a new £45 ink cartridge

its one or the other and there is no difference?!? i am confused on why you were fighting everyone who said refund and insisting on giving just £5 refund?

Anyway.. you have your answer dude.. in fact you ended up answering it yourself... you might get a negative if they are a pain in the ass that's the way it goes :violin:

Re: Epson ink out of date

Stop thinking about the feedback for a start.

You are selling a replenishable stock and the aim when doing so is a constant flow of repeat customers.

Stop thinking of it as gaining a negative, rather that you are loosing a customer.

Think of it this way.

What is the average repeat customer return for this product?

Then do the math on what you will loose when this customer toddles off to a competitor.

Business is a bitch and i have yet to have a self inflicted mistake that did not cost me.

buyer gave me a positive and left this> item out of date I believe seller did not know this. Problem was resolved.
