Registration VoIP in the UK from outside the UK
 

Hello comrades!
I have very hard time with registration VoIP on voipfone co uk. Bought one phone nr, paid 2,4 GBP and still don't understand how to use it. I tried to text this nr from my latvian phone, and received nothing. How can I use it with PayPal and eBay if they will text me (confirmation passcode etc.) on that phone?
Please help me out.

Is it working on a Latvian network? Might be that it won't work out the UK...

On voipfone.co.uk it shows that it works worldwide, and my own phone number was accepted with latvian phone code during registration.

Have you got a phone on your computer to receive the call?

I use voipfone no problem but i'm in the UK and get calls forwarded to my mobile for ease of use.

I wouldn't have thought you could divert to Latvia but I could be wrong.

Certainly will be expensive!

No, I don't have a phone on my PC. I thought it will be addressed to my regular phone. I guess I don't understand this VoIP system right.

voip is simply technology to make and receive calls using your computer / internet connection (nowadays you can even get standalone phones that use the internet to make and receive, but thats a different story)

voipfone also offer a "divert" service, where all calls get diverted to a number. I use this service to have calls diverted to my mobile (with no voicemail attatched identifying as a mobile I may add)

I wouldn't have thought you could do that, and even if you could, it would be very expensive.

Get to grips with how voip works, and what you need for it to work, that'll be your cheapest option long term.

i use sipgate.co.uk. I can select a number for free for any geographical area. I have a linksys PAP2 adapter which plugs into my router. and gives me two voip lines. one of them has a £10 credit on it which i put on about 3 years ago and is at £8.12 (great for international calls). Now to call a sipgate from anothe sipgate is free. So i create a stealth and then create a new sipgate telephone number. and simply forward it to my existing sipgate so if i have 0114 2333444 and I create 0207111222 , i simply log on to the 0207111222 sipgate account and forward all calls it directly to the 0114 2333444. You don't even need a router. simplay create a sipgate account get the number location (say 01243 987234) put on a £10 credit and thenlog onto sipgate account and directlyforward all call to your a landline or mobile. when you need a new number create a new sipgateaccount (say 0209 3451234) and log onto the account anddirectlyforward to prevous supgate account, 01243 987234, without having to buy another credit.
