Warning about photos

I keep getting this message
"Buyers love large photos that clearly show the item, so please upload high-resolution photos that are at least 500 pixels on the longest side. If you're uploading a photo from your smartphone, select the Medium or Large photo size option"
Is this optional or compulsory?. I copy photos from an on line catalogue. If I had to photo individual items it means unpacking, assembling, photo-ing, and repacking

Re: Warning about photos

I know that, but are you suggesting I photo the item which appears on the screen? My present method is to copy a catalogue photo to "my photos" then copy it to Auctiva. The photo is good on eBay but can't be expanded.

Re: Warning about photos

try infanview to expand it

you should modify the photos if you are using standard photos that could be used by many other people...

Re: Warning about photos

I right click the image, click 'edit' and use windows photo editor (load up quick enough).

When loaded, hit the resize button, bang in some figue and save then exif clean then good to go.

However, all depends on your system, operating system and setup and needs.

Have fun editing

Ceebee,

Here is instructions on how to make the picture at least 500 pixels:

1) Right click on the picture and select open with ==> Select Paint as an option
2)Paint windows will open up with your picture.
3)Select resize ==> You will notice that horizontal and vertical are at 100.
4)On the bottom of the paint border it will show you the pixel of the picture.
5)Simply adjust the horizontal to 150 or 200 and see if the pixel goes to 500 or higher, if it does then save as BMP option (higher quality).
6)It will now upload as long as it is over 500 Pixel and above.

Note: If you do not see paint as an option when you select "open with" then go to accessories ==> Select Paint==When paint opens up ==> select open and browse to ur picture and select it then you can continue to step 3.

I hope this helps.

Still found no real image software available for linux that does the job well. And none of them seem to work in Wine so I stick with an xp/ubuntu dual boot.

If you use the ubuntu 10.4 from disc it has some software on that that was promising but has been dumped by the looks of things and it was glitchy. But you can still use it from disc in a pinch.

What other photo editors did you try?

Obviously you must have had some experiences with others, yes?

Re: Warning about photos

From what I can understand eBay don't like my method because you can't zoom in to the photos. Basically what I have been doing is copy an online catalogue photo to my photos, then copy them to Auctiva. When I tried taking a photo of the onscreen photo it worked but reproduction wasn't good.

Re: Warning about photos

My original post included the question "is it optional or compulsory"? I wonder if you can tell me?
