refunds counted a defect!!!

FFS raging tonight

Did some small items to get feedback up, when got any queries immediately refunded so no case opened, now got 4 f***ing defects on a perfect account

pfftt.... that is annoying.

Double check the quality of those items though.

No point in damaging accounts like that.

This is like Amazon now, counting refunds as defects. You need to do the "mutually cancel transaction" option instead, I think (maybe someone can chip in?).

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

man this is how i lost my account. i thought i was being nice, i was giving my items for free sometimes (i sold digital but also sent a physical copy too)

i refunded to get like my final fees back (ALL OPTIONS no matter what counts as a defect)

well, at least for me anyway i always chose "buyer made a mistake or changed her/his mind" and still counted but i didn't notice until the day i got a restricted notice...:(

i call a specialist and they said all returns/cancellations count as defect which is total BS

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

I was under the impression that a cancellation would count as a defect only if the reason for the cancellation was with the seller. If the reason is with the buyer there is no defect. Need to make sure to choose the correct reason when youre doing the cancel request.
Unless they changed it...

I know they did change cancellations, it's a lot different than before, I haven't really looked into it, maybe someone else can chime in, I never open unpaid cases against buyers because I don't like risking a negative feedback

I used to just open a cancellation request , but last week I went to open a cancellation and backed off , it was different and I didn't want to risk a defect

Problem is it is NOT total BS when ebay rule the game.

The new way is harder.

We have to adapt to that.

The ulitmate aim is to always keep control of an account. More care is needed than ever when dealing with accounts.

Thenew system has 2 options. You can cancel because 'my item is out of stock or sold to someone else' choosing this option results in a defect.

The other option is 'buyer asked to cancel or their address is wrong' this does not result in a defect. (in theory atleast, ive 3 defects for this showing on my defect report)

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

I can confirm this.
Just checked one of my accounts on which last week I refunded a payment by canceling a transaction. I chose the option stating the 'buyer asked to cancel' and I do NOT show a defect on my dashboard for this.

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

just to confirm I did not do a cancel request, I simply refunded payment through paypal!!

on chat I was told ebay want all buyers to receive items, if you refund that is like admitting they didn't receive it.

also if buyer opens case and then closes it ebay will remove the defect

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

They will be shutting down the NPB option soon the way they are going on as the buyers can't be wrong yet the buyers still keep leaving in droves.

I wish they would learn their business as much as we know ours, as they have no idea what the buyer wants, no matter how many surveys they look at.

I've had a case where the buyer did not receive their item and opened a case. I have refunded payment. Is there any way the buyer can cancel the order so I DON'T get a defect?
Thanks for any replies.

No.

Only way is to upload tracking which shows as delivered.

Is there a certain option the buyer has to choose to close the case so the seller gets no defect?

They can close the case manually with satisfaction

just_smile 12-16-2014 06:26 AM

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

If they close the case manually it will still count as a defect.

You would need to get a good rep to remove the defect. Its not guaranteed though.

Re: refunds counted a defect!!!

I've two defects showing as item not received. Both buyers closed the cases as the items arrived - eventually. I showed both buyers the Proof Of Posting Certificate proving it was posted quickly and asked them for patience as parcels were probably stuck in post because of Christmas. Both buyers were very happy with me when items arrived and I got good feedback ratings.
I'm really pissed off that I got two defects because of the Post Office.
My account is on 4.1 because of this.
