you can accept a return, refund or part refund

ebay advised this

For every resolved returned case, we can help you with the defect.
You just need to contact us and appeal the defect for possible removal.

Now what I want to be clear in is what circumstances do they remove it as a defect, ebay chat advised it should be returned but refund will surely work?
