Ebay order lost in transit

I once sent an item to a buyer but the item seem to be lost in transit according to myhermes. The item was suppose to be delivered within two day, but the buyer contacted me like 7 days later when they had not received their order so I investigated and found out the likelihood of it been lost in transit then I forwarded the tracking to the buyer to verify that this wasn't my fault and really apologise to him and offered to refund him after the investigation is concluded.

Then the buyer responded by telling me to refund him immediately and that if the item was eventually delivered to him, he wont return it, he would keep it as a self compensation for the inconvinience caused. He was so angry with me and said all sort of things. Eventually I refunded him immediately.

The item cost about £60, not so cheap for me to give it away for free. He threatened negative feedback if I dont accept what he said.

What would you do?

Feedback extortion is againt eBay rules.

What does the tracking say? Myhermes can take a week or so to deliver sometimes.

I think the tracking said something like parcel with the local courier or sort.. Its been a while, this was like 2 or 3 months ago. The tracking was like that for several days until I contacted myhermes and they confirmed that item stolen.

Hermes makes Royal Mail look better.

Did you not insured the parcel?

No. I dont insure. the margin is not that much to insure such item without increasing your price and not worth it when there are other sellers. They eventually refunded me though.
