Uk 02 Dongle - US IP addresses, should I be worried
 

Alright guys! I just bought this 4G dongle from 02 but its just giving me ip addresses of locations in the United State of America. Should I be worried about this since I am based in the UK?

That is very strange....

You need your IP to be UK based.

Well... i use VPN/VPS a lot and get this all the time and it has never caused a problem. but for a dongle i must admit that's odd, but i think it'll be ok, otherwise it would cause countless problems for people around the country, logging into to Internet banking, buying stuff etc.

best way to check is logging into gmail accounts, if you are asked to confirm what city you usually sign in from, or your back up email address then you might have a problem, otherwise you're cool

It's happened before.

Another UK user advised us of this happening.

I've checked IPs a couple of times & the location has not been the UK but the USA as you said.

to be absolutely sure you can use a three payg 3g sim, they are great, not as if you need 4g for ebaying anyway

Right on - eB is not heavy on the graphics content - when dial-up still works decently (although slow), I can't really complain hah
