get new ip every 20 mins o2 broadband

Hi all
I am using o2 broadband think they call it live broadband now. I was trying to find a solution that would allow me to change my ip as i have tried turning the router off for 12 hours and everything. If you read one of my last threads or one that i commented in. I went and got myself a static ip from o2 which cost £5 a month pro rata and then cancelled it. I was gonna do this as many times as i could but then thought it might look a little suspicious.
Anyway i now have a dynamic ip and understand that the ip address' get assigned to you for a lease period which tends to be from 3-5 days but not a 100% sure how long. This is just too long as you may want to jump from one ebay account to the other and the last thing you want is for them to get linked to one another as one of them could go under investigation then the others would follow. So i was planning on buying myself a mobile broadband connection. One of the 3g or t mobile dongles that you get. But they are about £15 a month and am already paying £7.50 for this o2 connection. If it wasnt for the ip change then i wouldnt need a mobile connection. So i done a little reaserch and its possible to change your ip every 20 mins without turning of your router or computer. Heres how

Open a command prompt and telnet to 192.168.1.254

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...ces/telnet.png

2) Log in as SuperUser / O2Br0ad64nd

http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...es/telnet1.png

3) Paste in these lines (sometimes you may have to use the little icon at the top-left of the command prompt window in order to paste):

ip ifdetach intf=O2_ADSL2plus
ip ifconfig intf=O2_ADSL2plus hwaddr=02:21:6b:96:4c:d1
ip ifattach intf=O2_ADSL2plus
exit

At this point you should now have a new IP address. You have to repeat this each time you want a new IP address iI was told that f you change your address more than once in the space of 20 minutes you may have to wait a few minutes before you can reconnect to the internet, however when i tried this i had the same ip. Still need to check if it will give a new ip after 20 mins. Have heard it has worked so am assuming its ok.

Special note for Windows Vista users: telnet is not installed by default. Go to:

Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows Features on and off

Put a tick in "Telnet Client" and click "OK"

Any problems then please post to the thread so we can try and figure it out

Right i have found a little problem. It definatly works however it can give you any random id from anywhere in the uk. So if your in london it could give you a birmingham ip which isnt any good. So what we need to do is find out what part of the ip gives you the area. If anyone knows please help.

here is a manuel way of changing your mac address which will change your ip. Also for me the ip change is only working after every 20 mins.

1) telnet to 192.168.1.254

2) log in as SuperUser / O2Br0ad64nd

3) type these lines (replace each x with a random character from 0-9 or a-f, e.g. e6:93:25:5b:c3):

Code:
ip ifdetach intf=O2_ADSL2plus
ip ifconfig intf=O2_ADSL2plus hwaddr=02:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
ip ifattach intf=O2_ADSL2plus

You have to repeat this each time you want a new IP address.

so i think its best not to change all the letters and numbers just change the last 2 and see how you get on. This should sort the problem out and keep you in your area. With this in mind once you know the difference between a london mac/ip and a birmingham mac/ip then you can start having accounts in them places as you will be able to manually choose your ip by area.
please can someone verify if this is correct.

Right, for some reason i cant get method 2, manually edditing your mac, to work. As to the stealth ebook you will need to use a ip address that is in your area or whatever area you have the ebay/paypal account set up in, makes sence to me. So method 1 is basically gives you a random ip in any city, no good to us we will get flagged.

What i am trying to do is to get a new ip in the same city. I have tried all the command promt methods of releasing and renewing your ip but had no joy. Have also tried turning off the router/modem for 12 hours and i keep getting the same ip unless it happens to be the time of o2 allocating a new ip as the other ip's lease period has expired.

Hope this makes sense

I understand at o2 they give you a ip for a certain lease period which can range from 3-5 days maybe more. You can find the expiry date of the ip by typing ipconfig/all in the command prompt. So if you would like a few ebay accounts i think its fair to say that you would like to logg into them at least once a day obviously taking the required precautions by deleting your cookies, flash cookies maybe even have a seperate windows user account for each ebay id, all the info thats on the ebay tracking part of the forum. So wating a few days for a ip change is just too long.

I know that the ip alone isnt the reason a account will get flagged but as a high precaution its wise to have a diff ip for each account.

Changing the mac address on your connection will force a new ip. So if you change only the last 2 digits on the mac id it should give you a ip in your own city. So I think, Which is what we want,

Now this is the problem that i am having. I just cant seem to be able to change this mac address. The 2 posts above this are formulas of getting this done which i found on some other website but they change more or less the whole mac address which is giving different city ip's assigned to us. The 2nd method i have tried to put to test and i just cant manage to get it to work. I have even tried the ip release and going to my network settings to the tcp/ip and manually setting my ip, a method a found on one of the threads, but i keep getting the sam ip.

I have also tried to connect direct to the router but this ~#'@=#£ O2 router doesnt let you get into the mac settings. I believe that the formula 2,previous post, has a slight problem with it and requires a little tweek which can be done by someone who understands this command promt language.

If someone knows where i am going wrong then please post as i am going out of my head trying to get this solved. If its a no go then i will just have to get a mobile internet connection.

I have found a way around this now and it has worked for the time being anyway. What i have been doing is spoofing my mac as the first post states. Once i have a new ip regardless of what city its registering in i then reset the router/modem settings back to factory settings then
walaaa
i have a new ip in my city

:p

hope it continues

Yes latch you are right

the only reason we change the mac is because it will force a new ip address

Interesting thread, wondering if the superuser still works for o2, was reading somewhere that it was not working anymore.

Anyone had any luck with it recently?

Also , how do you get around the paypal phone call ? are there any new phone companies one can use that work for verification?
