Royal Mail International Prices!!!

Royal Mail International Prices have increased considerably.

Am I getting this right.

My item weighs around 110 grams.
This can easily fit in a small envelope, but this is classed has a small parcel and the prices are £5.05 for International Standard without tracking. This is for worldwide postage.

Europe is around £3.70 without tracking.

I use to sell international 6 years ago. I thought I would offer my products worldwide.
With these shocking new prices from Royal Mail, it is making alittle harder than I thought.

The courier service would be used with for heavier items.
But for a small item I thought Royal Mail worked out good. (used to)

Royal Mail! Use to love them, now I hate them....

Oh yes its right :pout:

Costs me £11-£14 to send a small item tracked to Europe.

I have had to many scammers from Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany and refuse to send even a stamp (which i dont sell) without tracking now

Not worth risking a ebay account and now you have the Global Shipping Program which ebay seem to estimate there own prices..:shhh:

Thanks Bunneh.

Royal Mail has made it real hard. Once a upon time it was profitable sending items overseas.
It is like these companies are bringing in billions of billions by robbing people with these ridiculous high prices. :pout:

Shocking.

I thought maybe try Europe than Worldwide. Even those prices are high.
I would never risk my account sending items overseas without a valid tracking.

I thought they were adding a "Large Letter" size category to International listings?

eternity4u 03-08-2015 04:29 PM

Re: Royal Mail International Prices!!!

The problem is. The large letter should be no more than 100g
The item I am selling weighs 102g which becomes a small parcel.

That really hikes the price up.

This small parcel pricing are ridiculous.
Most of the item, my items are £1.00 £2.00 but the postage comes to £2.80 for a small packet.
Ridiculous!!

Re: Royal Mail International Prices!!!

Ah right, I didn't see that bit..

Damn, yeh that is high.

I mostly sell A5 and A4 letters internationally, nothing bigger.. sometimes it can go up to about 110g though, so I'll have to check if it's viable. A4 letters currently have to go as a small parcel anyhow.

I don't send tracked though, so might be ok, I'll have to look.

I wish RM would sort their prices out properly, it's every 6 months they swap and change it, and mess around with sizes etc.. I really miss the good old days when everything was done on weight only and not size + weight.

Re: Royal Mail International Prices!!!

Large Letter International has a weight limit of 750g, and intervals up to that.

Not sure how much extra it will be as I can only see the standard stamp price and not the franking price which I usually use.

What size and price is your £2.80? I can't see anything for £2.80?

Re: Royal Mail International Prices!!!

My biggest issue with international sales has been that if the buyer is a scammer, or legitimately not satisfied, or if they really didn't get their item, then the postage costs alone eat into a few successful orders to get back to profitability. The only thing I ship internationally any more is books, rare and out of print. That category does not attract too many scammers and since my books are in English, mostly they end up shipping to Canada, the UK and Australia (although I HAVE shipped to probably every country in the world at least once) which have decent postal systems.

The only countries I don't like to ship to are the Arabic countries. Not because I have anything against the people, but because their customs people are insane! Here in the US, customs is looking for weapons, drugs, counterfeits and other illegal items. In some of the Arabic countries, they seize items for all kinds of reasons, usually because they don't like the information in the books - you never know exactly what they will have a problem with.
