Hi, im just pondering setting up my first stealth accounts and Im wondering abou the name and address and the bank.

I have just moved to a new house (rented) and I thought it might be an idea to google till I found who used to live here before me. As it happens I found a company used to be registered here (now dissolved). Anyway, I got a real name for someone who used to live at an address I have definately got access to. So Im thinking thats a good option....

However, their surname is nothing like my surname and Im wondering how much the banks will care? Some posts I read say it doesnt matter, while others say to keep the surname the same to minimise potential problems.

So option 1 - use a similar name to mine, use my home address for convenience. My real current address is not registered with EB per se - it is on the delivery address list for my Wifes real EB account, as are many other addresses - problem?

Or option 2 - register with the name of the person who used to live here.


Also, Im wondering what the effect on ebay searches would be if say the address was a name ie, Fawlty Towers changed to Faulty Towers, or F Tawas etc. My thoughts (my hopes!) are that I could use a variation of an address to double up on people living there and I would still get my post... ie use option 1 on 1 account and option 2 on another.

OK yeah, thanks, that was another worry I had. I dont mind being a bit naughty, but breaking the Law is another matter...

I now know that using a variation or made up address is no good - I must have read it late last night lol

OK, so Option 3 - make a persons name up, but use my real address?

Will my address be ok if we have had stuff delivered to it, bought from ebay?

Just had a look through the stealth guide again and it only mentions 3 options - use a family/friends name; use a nickname that you now go by; register DBA or Ltd.

But surely if the firend/family are not something I want to use, and I dont want to register DBA/Ltd yet, then if I want to have the limits lifted on my nickname account then I need to find ID with my nickname on it?

Do you know when is the identity theft line crossed? Suppose I want my nickname to be the same as the previous occupant, but only use their name, and never their DOB etc...? I didnt steal the address cause I actually live here.

Or is it the intent? ie If I chose a nickname that just so happened to be the name of the previous occupant, but didnt search them out for the purpose of bypassing EB checks, then that would be different?

I am finding today that I am able to make sense of stuff a bit better, although I am going from subject to subject which doesnt help!

No intention of using the pervious occupants details now anyway. I really am just curious as to where the line is crossed...
