Need help in opening new bank account
 

Hi all,

New to this, and just have quick query:

Basically in the past, I've had 2 current accounts with TSB and Santander - now both are on 2 suspended Ebay accounts, and are no longer usable.

Do you suggest I open up a new current account with a completely new bank, and which banks are easier to open with? And does the 'current account switching scheme' work for example, if I chose to move from TSB over to Natwest, would this be acceptable giving me a new sort code and acc no?

Please let me know your opinions ,much appreciated.

Yes most banks are easy to open, you don't need to use the ' switch to us option' but if you do you will get a new account number and sort code with the new bank anyway.

Banks that are easy to open online are natwest, RBS, Halifax, HSBC, to name a few and are all great with stealth.

May aswell switch banks and receive a welcome bonus most seem to offer at the moment. Some offer £125. Free money!

Would a basic account be ok? Or would I need a Current account?

Yep, basic accounts are the best to use, followed by current accounts. Only use savers when the first two options aren't feasible.

Thanks guys, I have also realised, some of the information I'm reading are posted quite some time ago (4years back) so some information might be outdated - any opinions and recommendation most welcomed and appreciated guys! Thanks Ebayorbust for your extreme fast response! I have 3 i'm planning to open: Natwest Basic, Halifax Basic, HSBC basic and possibly even open another Santander Basic (i'm already a current account holder with them) any thoughts? Cheers

All four are fine. A couple of folk have had issues with Halifax but I personally haven't.

There seems to be mixed opinions on Nationwide bank, are they any good? Seems like the majority have had one issue or another with them..

Never had an issues with Nationwide. I like their websites interface a lot as well, really easy to navigate on.

Had no problems with natwest basic.
