Bit of an odd one.

Sold an electronic item and sent it signed for 1st class. I just checked the reference number and it says delivery has been attempted and it's just waiting at the delivery office pending collection or redilevrry. Thing is it's been 10 days now and the buyer hasn't booked a redilevrry or collected. It says it will be returned to the sender (me) after 18 days. Buyer hasn't contacted me for inr or left feedback. He is using eBay as he has left feedback and recieved some recently. Could my item have been collected and tracking hasn't updated, or is the buyer purposely not collecting it so it's returned to me?

Have you messaged the buyer?

He may have just forgotten that he bought an item and Royal Mail not put a collection leaflet though the door

I'm abit reluctant about that as it might invite an INR case.

Better to be proactive. Contact to maintain control of the sale.

You could ring his sorting office and arrange a redelivery? you can do it online to I think.

You're right to be cautious of inviting a INR case. One of the 'scams' is to open a case while the item is at the delivery office waiting to be collected. After 8 days, ebay will force the refund. You then go and collect your item.

Just be ware this can happen.

I've had a similar situation TWICE and both times I contacted the buyer and they were extremely thankful because one of them had not noticed that RM had left a calling card and threw it out with junk mail and other person never received one. They were very thankful and I gave them all the details and they were able to collect the parcels themselves from a local collection point.

I have personally had problems with my own orders couple of times- One time they never left a calling card and left a parcel 6 houses down the road and we don't know each other and other time I literally threw it out with all the junk mail.

Just be proactive and communicate- People are very thankful and positively surprised.

I would personally contact the buyer, you are opening yourself to a case even more without communicating. Some royal mail staff don't leave cards or they go unseen.

If you leave it, and it gets returned to you, the tracking will update to YOUR sorting office as delivery and then if he does open a case he will win.

Best to contact the buyer and make them known about delivery time frame.
