Will you get VERO'd if you sell legit brand items

If you look on ebay UK, you will find quite a fair amount of business sellers selling brand name items like Nike shoes, Adidas shoes and tracksuits etc.

I've read various posts on this board from US members who are saying that even if the items are legit, you will still get VERO'd eventually, its just a matter of time.

Now, apart from looking into how they are obtaining those goods for re-sale, are VERO interested in clamping this down?

it depends

depends the only way you will find out is by trying, if your goods are legit you have a much stronger chance of keeping your account as you can fax over evidence, although apparently I heard they dont have time to follow it up.
also depends if vero rights owner doesnt want goods in publics hands for variety of reasons eg. too cheap, they have another powerseller they allow and dont want competition, its a line that they dont want sold in a particular country. If they decide you cant sell it, its one sided, they decide you must comply and move on to another product.

all i can say is suck it and see, but dont buy huge quantities.

Yes you can be VEROed for legit goods as well as counterfeit goods.

Usually during this busy selling period, an account that starts to sell brand-name items can come under scrutiny. If the account had sold these items in the previous months, then it may be OK. The problem,as I see it, is a competitor and the IP owner. Likely you will be VeRo-ed.

Appreciate the responses. I still find it amazing that a competitor can go crying to the VERO owner or ebay themselves and try to get listings pulled down.

What I'm wondering is what reason does ebay have to favour one particular seller. Won't they make more money if two sellers are selling the same thing via fees...

Quite often companies simply do not want their products being sold on eBay - for quality purposes or whatever. Or - you may have to be an authorized distributor in order to sell their products.

Some sometimes your listings may get removed by VeRO not because they are supposedly counterfeit, but simply because the brand owner don't want 'em on them

I enquired to buy wholesale health products from a legit supplier, with their own brand, when I mentioned i wanted to set up an ebay shop they said they already had someone on ebay that sold their products (probably one of their employees or director!) and were not interested in another shop selling multiples of their products, when I questioned this further, they went quiet and didnt respond. now there may have been several possible reasons why they reacted like that, who knows, but they didnt want my money, if ebay was associated with me, fortunately I wasnt THAT interested anyway as there wasnt alot of profit in it.

It's illegal to do price-fixing like they do, but if they can dump millions of dollar into lawyers, they can get away with it.
