Paypal Limited - ebay still running!!!
 

hi guys,

bit of advise needed please.

i Have been using both my friend paypal and ebay for a while now.

both accounts fully verified and running fine for years.

i made a larger withdrawal than usual from paypal, 1 hour later ..... Paypal limited with no appeal!!!

ebay account is still open and running fine? is that the end of this ebay account or can i add a new paypal to it?

any advise greatly appreciated.

That is the end I am afraid. You will need a new ebay and paypal.

im guessing i f'd myself up with the large withdrawal.

i understand there has been some issues of late with starting frash with a stealth ebay account and paypal.

whats the deal with this now?

Its really down to you.

If you follow the stealth guide you can get yourself up and running again without needing to buy an account.

It's not the end at all.
My current ebay account has been running for several months and the paypal account I started at the same time was limited when I couldn't supply ID.

So I started a new paypal account 3 months ago and it works fine with the existing ebay account even though no details on either account match each other. I also discovered that because the ebay account was not new there was no 21 day hold for paypal funds either although there was a 72 hour hold for the first few withdrawals.

Obviously the paypal account should be all new details etc and not connected to the previous paypal account in any way.

As long as you have a credit card ( they don't cross check names like they do with debit cards) you can open a new PP account immediately. While you get a bank account sorted you can send funds to a friends paypal account

That PayPal will without a doubt eventually get shut down.

It can last for a few weeks, even a few months, but it is days are numbered.

I guess u have nothing to lose by starting a new paypal account and using that with the running eBay account

But be prepared and in the meantime I'd create a new eBay and new PayPal account and start selling low risk items to get a selling history going.

Using a new paypal with an old eBay is not a solid technique, but eBay/ PayPal can be unpredictable and you may get some more time running your eBay account like this, just get a new account going

If that is the case it's still worth it as it means you don't need to buy anything and you can keep your ebay feedback etc.

It's worth doing also while you make alternative plans for the day closure does happen.

With the upcoming separation of paypal from ebay I wonder how that will affect the linking between the two.
Surely Data Protection laws will prevent them from doing it the way they do now.
Optimistically might we even see ebay accept an alternative to paypal.
That's one case of anti competitive law breaking I'm waiting to see tackled in the UK

The separation is something that may well effect US users more than UK users. EB and PP are meant to be separate in the UK as it is.

The fact that ebay forces you to have paypal as a form of payment on every item is something I cannot understand the anti competition people in the UK have not stopped.

Todays email of all the changes says the usual stuff that if you don't want to accept the new rules you can close your account.
At the same time I have many many limited paypal accounts from the last decade or so and you cannot close limited accounts.
If I had the money I would take paypal to court as they are not allowing me to close those old accounts even if I do not want to accept the new rules.

Even if they did let you close the old accounts they would still keep all the details on file so I am not sure if would make much difference.
