have you received this email from paypal???? looks like a good news for us

Soon, PayPal and eBay will no longer be part of the same group of companies and will operate as unrelated organisations. So we're updating PayPal’s User Agreement, Acceptable Use Policy, and Privacy Policy to continue providing the same great services you’re used to. We’re also making other changes to our business practices and policies that aren’t related to the separation. We’ve put details of the changes on our Policy Update page. You can also find this at www.paypal.co.uk by clicking ‘Legal’ at the bottom of the page and then selecting ‘Policy Updates.’

Wow this is very interesting! I wonder if it's only for international reasons or the US as well I will have to look into this.

I dont think, in practical terms, that anything will change. eBay wont offer, in the UK, any other payment service other than paypal, and data will still be shared as it is now, albeit under some formal agreement.

I assume there will be clauses in ebay or paypal agreements to allow them to share data which would normally be against the Data Protection laws.

But I think its long overdue for ebay sellers to be allowed to offer alternative payment methods to paypal.
I'd love to see that just to see the bottom drop out of the paypal market overnight.
Who wouldn't change given the chance?
Many legit sellers are fed up of paypal too and some competition would stop paypal treating us as if they are doing us a favour

We can already use other payment methods apart from PayPal. The issue with PayPal must be offered on new accounts.

Add to that most people who use eBay will also use PayPal and it would be an upward struggle to get people to actually pay via other methods.

I wonder which one, eb or pp, will be better off from doing this?

wonder how it would affect a neg balance from an ebay transaction issue.....

Yes have seen this as well, they seem to be pushing the sign up for paypal as an option but not as adamantly as they were doing, especially that bit about 'if you don't want to accept the changes, follow other steps'.

possibly the adding different details, mismatched or different country paypal to eby, may be easier.

are they still diverting you straight to make an eb acc? last time I made one the details were copied/prefilled directly to pp...

They will auto fill but it doesn't depend how you go about creating the PayPal. If you create it seperately on the same browser it won't auto fill but if you make it directly through EB it will. It then just asks for you to make a password.
