PP Has Acquired So Many Payment Solutions! Linkable?

Okay, so I'm sure most of you know PP acquired Brainntree a few years ago.

I used a VCC on a company website whom uses BT (now owned by PP) as their payment processor. Payment didn't go through but card details were submitted and are stored under my account.

Wanted to use that VCC rather than buying another one to verify a new stealth PP, until I realised I'd already used it on BT which is owned by PP.

Will it be a mistake to do this or am I just over-thinking that this could be an easy link?

I would avoid it.

PayPal may any information with companies it owns. Better safe than sorry

The acquisition of BT by PP as per wikipedia is quite the interesting read

There is no way to be sure exactly how they integrated, but I very much doubt that a failed payment made to a business using Braintree will show up in PayPal with the cardholder's information.

It COULD happen, so I wouldn't use it on an existing account in good standing, but I think the chances are very slim.

Braintree was very innovative in combining services for business making them easy for businesses to implement. THAT was the value that PayPal saw in buying them out. PayPal wants to get into the markets for more traditional merchants and saw this could help them do that. They also eliminated a potential competitive threat.

We KNOW that PayPal keeps track of every credit used on PayPal, but taking all of Braintree's transactions and storing them would probably be expensive and potentially violate agreements signed by Braintree, albeit in a technical manner. I just don't think it happened.

I think it's a longshot they'll link it but avoid it if possible - you never know with PayPal, like James said, better safe than sorry
