Drop shipping high value items.
 

Thoughts on this? What are the risks associated with this? I've talked to my supplier and he us happy to send with the appropriate insurance should I cover his costs. Saves me the hassle if storage and packaging and posting myself. In my opinion this can be 50% of my workload. Were talking about items in the value of around £150-300. Thanx.

Where to begin:
1. How will you handle returns?
2. How sure are you on the Quality of products?
3. Quality of packaging?
4. Shipping Time?
eBay doesn't like drop shipping when it comes to new Accounts.

How well do you know your supplier Iron Chin, if you have known him a number of years then you should know how reliable he is and how well he deals with packaging items and shipping them, if he is good enough to do this then it is up to you to decide if dropshipping using his services can work for you.

this is not a china supplier is it? that is a no no

yes I do this with furniture and make a good margin - however there are issues not due to dropshipping per se but to do with the regular kinds of courier nonsense/customer remorse/returns.. blah issues you would get anyway.......... if the supplier is reliable then it is a winner.

I would not ship or dropship anything too high value, as a few years ago I had a chargeback on a very expensive item even with signed tracking.

You might want to look at fulfillment companies. Some have a warehouse in China and will pick up your goods from the supplier. Ship it to their warehouse in the west. Store it for you. Repack it for you add / remove any promo material you want and send it out to your costumers. Any returns will go back to them and you can decide what to do. They even take photos of your goods or anything you instruct them to do. There are a lot of benefits to do it this way. In my case with minimal increase of costs.
