I do wonder sometimes

What proportion of EB UK sellers are stealth do you reckon?

I suppose, at least 25%. I send lots of packages to guys who have one person as registered at EB, and totally different person in "Sipping address".

I highly doubt its 25% who are stealthers on the ebay community.
Theres no way ebay would be able to sustain its business model with that sort of stealth percentage.
Id say that maybe 1-2% are stealth accounts. The vast majority are legit sellers.
Thats just MY opinion though.

I totally agree. I think even 2% would have to be very high. Most people banned by eBay give up.

Yeah its unlikely its more than a percent or two, you gotta remember just how many users are registered on ebay, its a ton so even 1% is a lot!

Not a lot of people know they can get back on eBay with stealth so it's our job to spread the word.

Not really our "job" hah - it's for ppl who want to learn about stealth....if interested, ppl learn - if not, not our problem :)

Only EB knows the percentage of stealths. I assume that every seller a EB, who sells high-risk / dodgy items on a regular basis is a stealth, as it is not possible to sell high-risk without knowledge, and the knowledge is obtained only after loosing some accounts, real ones as well.

I think most of you over estimate stealth numbers.

I would be really surprised if it was more than 0.1% or 1 in every 1,000 accounts.


Now stealth accounts will likely bring in more than 0.1% of ebays revenue, but that's another argument.

I did a quick google search and at the end of 2nd quarter of 2015 eBay reached 157 million *ACTIVE* users


I am revising my original 1% down to 0.1% which calculates to 157,000 stealth accounts out there and I still think thats a very large number.

theres probably been a high percentage of that come from this site :) i think your guess is too low though

5% or so, although the majority of 'stealths' i see aren't really stealths. See guys with the same name and just a different number after it all the time

Well eBay allows members to have multiple accounts.....

You think theres 7+ MILLION stealth accounts?

You'd think eBay/Paypal would catch on to methods that we use WAYYYYYY faster if that number of stealth accounts were active.

Ever thought ebay arent that bothered about stealth accounts.. Its all extra business/ income for them.. just bring in the ebay issued letter to the address listed on the account with a verification code on it to verify and no more stealth accounts

yes wouldn't read too much into that.... I am always getting ebay sellers to cover an amazon order due to overselling. (and vice versa)

Just my accounts alone make up 25% of the accounts on Ebay!
