hi

Has anyone successfully registered with VOIP as a seller in UK, you need a landline number for that, does anyone know of one that has a landline number format.

all the ones Ive looked in to dont give landline number just other like 056.

on forum someone mentioned one with fax number that you can use call forwarding on, unsure if that would wok though as it would be a fax tone.

vonage etc have landline but that is the same as virtual number but for £5.99 pcm thats more expensive than straightforward vrtual number from tamar etc..

I'm in the middle of using voipfone uk to try and verify an account. Its the usual free to set up but you can have an area coded number of your choice for £1.99/month, I'll let you know how it goes.

The contract is only month by month, it is an easy case of cancelling it from your account. I tried it last night though and it didn't work for me, doesn't mean it won't work for somebody else though . I've got another option I'm going to try, so it may work with this, again, I'll keep you posted.

UPDATED: tried again, unplugged the earphone jack and played the keypad tones through the laptop speakers with the microphone held against them. Worked on the third attempt, so this method definately works :D

can we confirm if voip is still working re ebay , recent experiences please.....

seen a recent post who said didnt work for paypal, may be a reason, voip recycle numbers for a start, link to suspended user? I thought voip was ok for paypal generally but for location verification, ie instead of the slip to the address you had to be geographically very close or the letter goes out...

voipfone works but if you live in an area code that is for instance 01999 500600 and you can only pick 01999 700200 since the 700200 is not the range for your address maybe a few miles away paypal wont recognise it and will probably send you something in the post thats what happened to me last time so if your in barking london and you give then 0207 ilford number it doesnt match the code for your address your have to wait for the post, not good if you give a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address

The landline phone verification problem is easy to sort out - providing you live at home , have access to a landline and are not a online farudster/scam artis who moves from hotel to hotel.

If you have a landline number ring bt and get them to send you a call sign number for about £ 1.75 a month.

Then , when you have used both these numbers ring BT again and get them to change both numbers .

They will issue you 2 new numbers within 7 working days that can be used for ebay/Paypal .

You can do this over and over and over again.

If you need more numbers than this then you are probably a scam artist (i.e selling counterfiet goods or commiting fraud )

ok so why do you need it, probably same reason as others on forum, its not about fraud its about ebay/pp unfairly in most cases limiting and suspending users.
If your home address gets suspended , you will need another address, it only has to happen once and thats your details gone, and I wouldnt be so sure of yourself that it wont happen to you

I disagree , it's nothing to do with your home address.
They have computer systems that recognise telephone numbers / credit card details that have been used previously.
The same is not true about " an address " , infact my address is probably the only thing i don't change when opening an account .
It takes a real person to screen an account address and block it , and for a real person to do that you must have done something pretty serious.
The fact is it's actually quite gard to get totally blocked from ebay , ok , they might suspend you untill you have submitted more details or restirct an account with no good reason but to get completely thrown off for good is difficult , the majority of people who get NARD for good are up to no good.
A minority of people are NARD unjustly , and to them i sympathise , but the fact is a lot of people are using ebay accounts as something disposable .

their system recognises phone numbers etc, yes, but I would assume it also recognises, at bit like avs system the door number and postcode combination too.

If you have been suspended for whatever reason and you reuse the same address, you are saying that down the line that wont be a problem, hmm, contradicts general forum opinion....

I'm not saying use the exact same postcode , because their is computer system that detects this . Nothibg wrong with entering the same street , number etc.
There is too many accounts to screen this .

ok, but when you get limited, and a real person looks at address that the postcode doesnt correlate to and youve got to send in say a bank statement with that exact address on it, well you are handing in id for an invalid address, could be picked up real easy......

Im not saying I havent done that cause I have but it might backfire on me one day
