Import came with a note from custom
 

I imported some certain products It took like 4 weeks+ for the product to be delivered, it was in UK for like 2 wks prior to delivery. Upon opening the box, I found a note from custom saying the products (Health care products for external use) are Illegal to sell in UK and that it could carry prison term if sold.

That said, I wonder why they had not destroyed the product as its quite a lot of quantities, its more than what you could have imported for personal use. Any sane person would note that it was imported for commercial purpose.

NOTE: This item sell very well on ebay and you will find them at nearly every high street shop clearly display where they are sold. I would not have imported them if I knew they were illegal. It even came with a telephone number to call to report if I had bought it from a website

What should I do with my import?

illegal to sell in UK, but not necessarily to sell elsewhere, so slightly different.

I had to stop selling some stuff in last couple of years, but yes it seems strange if high st shops sell it, depends on ingredients, I know a bit about this, so you can pm me. but amazon and ebay can blindside you with an 'illegal to sell in this region' takedown at any time, meanwhile you can get it abroad and/or foreign sellers can sell it to UK...

eBay have this rule that you can't sell craft knives because they could be used to harm someone. Fair enough, but they DO allow you to sell craft knife blades and craft knife handles in separate listings.
So really you can still buy craft knives.
That's just nuts!

Yeah! Thought about selling it from abroad but its a low cost item less than £5 and it cant be worth it if you factor shipping. My shipping here is 0.63p (Franked)

Have you actually checked it IS illegal to sell or are you just taking the word of the note?

I wud look into trying to see if it really was illegal to sell it and if u cant dig up anything I wud sell it and be done messing with that item.. be done with that .. Sounds fishy they didn't destroy it I bet some jackass with a 5o cent badge trying to play god :)
Just like selling stun guns in the us etz a list of states Eb gives u NOT to ship to. makes it a pain to tell someone NO even after u listed what states these can NOT be sent and they still order .. but that's how they got TOMMY CHONG bought a bong from his website from a state that drug related items like bongs are illegal his staff went around and around refusing to send it there and after days of back and fourth they went ahead and shipped to PA then they NAILED him .... So do be careful what ur selling where

suppose google it, if it is an ingredient, there are some that are not allowed but it is just a UK thing, alot are actually herbal/natural...

they may not destroy, as you could be selling it elsewhere than UK.

I mean selling from an abroad acc to the UK, if you have one, is a way of getting rid, depends on if you are allowed to, good way to see is if there are other listings by sellers UK or abroad - you do not need to send it from abroad though!!

there are different issues, they may not allow anyone to sell it to UK. This happened with alli a while ago, it all got regulated, and so if you want it, you have to go to eg. usa ebay and ask if they will post it to you. Other example is certain creams eg. lightening ones, the ingredient is prescription only for UK, but if you wanted it, you can get it from ebay but not from a Uk buyer, but abroad sellers can offer and post it to you.

As I say, this is my catagory, Ive seen it all!!!!!

I can tell its your category and you certainly know your thing.

This specific product is sold by more than 100 ebay UK sellers and its readily available on the high street shops as well. I am just as surprised when I was told it is not allowed cause it is a very popular product used in my household and community. No other prescription from the NHS works better, we've tried them all.

anyway I think I know the product type, all I can say is not to worry right now because if others are selling in UK and it contains no prescription meds, it should be fine...

and actually there is a disconnect between customs and ebay/az, I mean they do not talk to each other.....so there is no follow-up...

I sell a similar type used for 'privates', over 200 sold this month hehe....
