Argos to offer ebay postal service
 

Pretty interesting news that Argos is to offer in 150 of its branches a service to deliver ebay parcels for you. Much depends on the small print, parcel sizes etc. to how competitive this could really be.

Will be really interesting to see how this can be utilized with stealth accounts, because if it can not, then it would offer non-stealth sellers a competitive edge.

'eBay Drop-Off at Argos

Primarily designed for consumer sellers and small businesses, it offers a tracked next day or two day service. It’s simple straightforward pricing with just three weight bands. Once a seller parcels up their sales they simply drop them off at Argos for shipping.

Pricing for eBay Drop-Off at Argos is £3.80 up to 2kg tracked (24-48 hour delivery), £6.23 up to 5kg tracked 24 hour delivery and £8.22 up to 20kg tracked 24 hour delivery. Whilst you might be able to get better prices for ultra light items or with a courier contract, for small sellers or ad hoc requirements these prices are pretty keen.

We’re expecting to see Drop-off at Argos roll out to about 150 stores this year with the intent to roll out across the country next year.

Any one tried this in any of their 'trial' areas? Thoughts and views?

So the 24-48 hour one is about 10p cheaper than 2nd Class Recorded, so not much saving there, but the 24 hour up to 5kg is very good and also the 20kg one. Thats taking on UPS and the like.

I also think using that service will keep you clean of INR cases, and the dates for delivery will be much more 'liberal'...so its a win in a way, but I hate that we are giving ebay more money as I am sure they get a big cut :)
