CIFAS = Credit Industry Fraud Avoidance System

It has nothing to do with safe guarding your money if a bank collapses.

Cifas Is a database for fraudsters and stops you from opening bank accounts
And the banks are the biggest robbing *******s with the fat cat pay outs
And the PPI scam it's a joke

New-ish member here, greetings.

Just opened a Basic Account with Santander. Never banked with them before (my personal account is with Lloyds so keep that entirely separate) but they are efficient if nothing else.

I received the cash card, top-up debit card and letters with the temporary pins etc quickly but I made a balls-up with entering them in the system. Phoned them and they were extremely helpful and are sending out new temp pins for me to get going.

I didn't have to supply any docs/proofs at all. Everything done online (except correcting my cock-up).

As Lombok says, there are 2 account numbers floating around so will try depositing to both in due course and see what happens. Looks promising.

I also opened the Santander basic and am using both the account numbers attached to the account and have received payments from paypal on both now so it all seems to be working well. Easy to open savers online with them also and these work equally well too.

So, open one account and it gives you two account numbers and they can both be used.

so you can use Santanders basic accounts top up card to open and verify a new stealth paypal account ?

Just use the account number not the card number. Use a VCC for the card.
