HMRC/ VAT & Ebay
 

Hello,

I have been running successful accounts for a while now. Everything is above board. I put all my Paypal transactions through my usual business's, and pay relevant taxes etc etc. I do have quite a lot of money going through these accounts.

From what I understand HMRC are clamping down on eBay sellers not paying their taxes. The issue I have is my stealth account doesn't show my Vat number or legal business name and address etc etc. So if I were to be looked by HMRC/ Ebay this person would not exist.

This does concern me as everyone knows on this forum it takes a long time building up a long standing account.

My questions is, is there a way around this?

HMRC are not too bothered about that in my experience. They just you to pay your taxes on profits correctly.

Your very best thing would be to talk to an accountant though and explain the situation.

Lots of users on here lately have been worried about not showing a VAT number if necessary on eBay.....if it ever came to the crunch and you are paying taxes and they caught up with you then you would have all the relevant paperwork and tax / vat returns to show them anyway, so shouldn't be a worry.

You don't necessarily have to disclose that information to private companies anyway...
