item not received dispute suitable?

i've bought something on ebay for about £300 from a UK seller with very good feedback. the items were actually coming directly from india to me. however, i have not received the items. the seller has already provided me with tracking information which shows that the parcel has been delivered correctly, signed by someone else, not me! but there is no one else living at this address and my neighbours haven't got it either.
what can i do here?
i could file an item not received dispute with paypal, but the seller will just be providing the tracking information showing that parcel has been delivered. then i'll probably loose the dispute. or what are my chances? any other ideas?
the seller and myself have both been already in contact with the courier to get more details on the delivery, no luck so far...

steve, sounds like the seller is drop-shipping? See if you can get the seller to come to some agreement about the item. Gentle nudge to him about postal fraud etc etc. Don't let it drag on.;)

did you purchase insurance for the item? If so you can file a claim with the postal service, similar problem happened to me with Fed Ex a few years ago.

Couriers really dont about people's property

i think it goods just came directly from the supplier. we are both trying to get more details from the courier, not sure if it was insured, i didn't pay additionally for that unfortunately... but the sellers' and the couriers' argument are that the item "has been delivered", thats what their proof of delivery showed... but obviously not to the right person (me).

Do you live in an apartment complex? Maybe it went to the wrong apartment number.

check the name on who signed for the package to see if it matches anyone i nyour complex, the person who signed for it was probably dumb enough to put their actual name on it

no. the courier has provided proof of delivery showing a name. no one with that name lives here.
