Rant at myself

I could kick myself. Seriously. My stealth account is a year old and I think I've been doing pretty well stealth wise until today. I was downloading images that I took of the product onto the laptop and it was taking long on the dongle so I used the wifi instead to make it quicker. However, I completely forgot to turn the wifi back off so when uploading the pictures I used the wifi until the last point of completing the listing. Probably about 1 minute in total of the wifi. I remembered at that last possible moment and turned it off but as we all know it only takes 1 second for ebay to link accounts.

Arghh! Just dreading the MC999 email now which I know I'm bound to get at some point unless I manage to slip through unnoticed. GRRR! I do have alternative accounts but I haven't used them as much.

I guess we live and we learn but still so annoyed. I guess I know now to download them onto a USB stick first and then upload them.

Tbh I think you are probably going to be fine with a one off link. There are only so many IP addresses and they do get rotated so that by itself is unlikely be enough to cause a strong enough link for any sort of MC notice :)

If you do want to prevent this even being a possible issue though it may be worth looking at a VPN

Thanks. I'll look into that.

I have stayed logged on by accident at my shop where the old account was linked to and it has never recognised it so you should be ok.. but I do feel your pain, the speed at which I am hitting the x in the corner when I see it is still open is frightening!

You will be fine unless you keep the same IP across numerous accounts as a constant a blip that this wont register, there is argument to say that until one of your accounts gets suspended or investigated that the IP factor is not monitored until this time and then BANG you loose the lot.
