Laptop for making accounts

I have decided to buy myself a new laptop. Money to spend up to £1000.

At the moment I have a Toshiba Core I3 with 8GB RAM but find it slow.

I want something that is fast and doesn't hang if I am doing a lot of things.

What do you guys recommend?

Should I perhaps consider an Apple or what is the best set up for security and privacy?

Re: Laptop for making accounts

I don't have a specific suggestion.
But I recommend a laptop with lots of RAM (8gb should really be enough, unless you're rendering videos and making accs at the same time).
An SSD is a NECESSITY. Speeds things up magically.

With 1k GBP you should manage to get yourself a really decent laptop.

I personally use DELL Inspiron 7737. More than enough for me. :)

Mine is currently a Toshiba and I find it quite disappointing tbh.

I've had Dells before and they have always lasted well. Good point about the SSD I hadn't thought of that.

Thank you.

Well we should get to know what scooblou is planning to do with his laptop.
Maybe there are specific software which is not mac-friendly.. Maybe he likes gaming, which is also not mac-friendly.

Macs are great but you pay a little extra for the name and the design. ;)

I have heard about Linux but no nothing about it so will look into it.

I suppose this option would make sense then I can keep that separate just for stealth accounts.

He should also get Pioneer HDJ2000 headphones with KAOSS DJ mixer;
and of course -- a Nikon DSLR camera.

Works perfect for creating accounts! :juggle:

I just tried installing Linux lite and lubuntu on USB drive to make it work on my old dell d620, 3gb ram, it was absolute crap. Clicked on icons and it took like literally 15-20 seconds to open, and that's just opening a window! What gives?

It's not moving backwards, it's just the software people r churning us for a long ride. I have a 2015 MacBook Pro now, love it, but eventually they gonna kill it too. My old machines r still above 2ghz processors, might as well make it do something like torrenting, kodi, home network, print server or something.

Hahaha smart a**, why don't u do the math, one window, 25 seconds, for spreadsheet, then browser, 25 seconds, then adding tabs, 25 seconds, then printing a label, 25 seconds, and let's not get into changing user accounts, pretty soon you'll get to 15 minutes just to print one label, and switch to another user acct.

I use linux all the time installed on the hard drive.

I use puppy linux for problems and fedora 23 xcfe on my hard drive and can run a usb version that plays youtube and live porn video and audio as well as a hard drive installation. on a pc with 2.7 ghz speed and 2.75 of ram. and can do same on a 1000 ghz with 1 gig of ram atom processor laptop

For me its as fast if not faster than Microsoft with less problems and almost zero costs.

I have usb with bootable versions of linux which i can use on different computers. In fact i have rescued many windows users with linux

I use Linus for my port forwarded web server, voip phone pbx, gimp for graphics, libreoffice.
spreadsheets and word processing and also for this ebay stealth website.

Good luck with your system. I'm really happy iLinux

Glacier.. you must have done something wrong. I've used Ubuntu linux in various forms and it's never been slow. I've installed it on really old PC's, on low-spec VM's, and even run it from a flash drive. Even when running it off of a bootable flash drive I wouldn't have problems with lagging. Definitely faster than running Windows on a bootable flash drive, lol.

Linux is great and most flavors are way faster than Windows since they don't have all the extra crap. It just never grew on me because you have to use a command-line interface to do even simple things.

Ok, after a day I have figured it out. It's running off the USB that was giving me problems. I have an old machine, 2007, 3gb ram. Run it off USB, that's where the problem was. Puppy Linux worked good even off of USB, but installing things on it was a pain, with all those pet file extensions, it's not standardized.

Lubuntu was way better off of direct hard drive, USB was a pain, installed it on kodi, was way too slow tho. Tried to record stream from those iptv stream things, using vlc but does not record. Did the same with my Mac tho, and that worked. What a pain had to go thru! I just wanted this old clunky system to make itself useful and it couldn't even do that.
