Buying stuff off internet

Hi Guys!

I am trying to buy a lot of stuff off the internet, places other than ebay and not local. There is this big issue of trust and obviously the locations are not where I am prepared to travel to.

A lot of these sellers perhaps don't understand escrow. Is there any luck with PayPal charge backs in case I don't get what I paid for. Whats the best way to deal with this if there is any option left at all?

Paypal's buyer protection program is second to none. A supplier who will accept Paypal should be regarded as relatively reliable, since it's so easy for buyers to file claims and get their money back with Paypal.

With paypal, they do not file a charge back for you. You can open
an 'item not received' or 'item not as described' dispute with them but
your credit card company would be the one to open a charge back.
Not paypal.

Escrow is not a UK thing on the whole, and never will be. Despite the fact that UK paypal using 21 day holds is infact a form of escrow.

It sounds like you are talking about Gumtree ads and alike, buyers and sellers associate that kind of selling format with cash sales, anything else sets off alarm bells to them.

If you want to buy stuff to make a profit just look at auction houses.

Just choose where you buy items from carefully and pay with credit card and you wont have issues

Most important part is to do your research and make sure you trust your seller

Pay with a real credit card for fraud protection OP - works well

Thanks for all your contribution. This is not an issue about trusting seller/Supplier. I am buying stuff off random people on the internet from site like gumtree e.t.c.

Obviously some of these pple are not regular users of PayPal so, its not likely they have a penny in their PayPal account and if they decided to take my money and not send good. Would PayPal able to refund money when sellers has no penny left in their PayPal account and they dont even have a valid direct debit setup for PayPal to reverse payment.

Thats the scenario.

PP would still be able to refund you as part of protection policy but they would be stuck with trying to get the seller to pay the amount due...

Is there an option to deal with people with only verified PayPal account, as in fully verified account. Am I able to identify such accounts before sending money?
