eBay won dispute now a PayPal chargeback

I won an eBay dispute for £150 and customer has now done a PayPal chargeback for the money so does this mean I could still loose the money?

Thx
Steve

Yes unfortunately there are 2 disputes systems, eBay and PayPal.

Just present your case as clear as possible with the most evidence in your favor as possible and hope for the best. You can also talk to the buyer and work out some kind of partial refund to end things early. Most of the time I settle with buyers long before a dispute is ever opened if there are any problems.

The driver left the parcel in the black bin outside the house and customers says it's not there
I gave eBay the tracking number they were happy
Customer was not happy and myhermes won't pay up and it was free postage so no insurance taken and now I'm at PayPal

No he wont. If the tracking states delivered, then he will win.

Stevebills; surely if you know it was left in a bin, and the customer is saying they haven't received it, why haven't you refunded??

You were the cheapskate who made the choice to use hermes, why should your customer suffer? They are the biggest bunch of cowboys going, there is a reason they can "deliver" a parcel for £3.

i gave my customer free delivery and that does not include insurance because its free
I dont no where the parcel is someone is lying?
I did think about refunding buyer but it was £150.00
i guess i need to charge for postage on item over £30.00 and insure

thx steve

Sending a £150 item without insurance was your first mistake. Despite if you advertise 'free' postage - you are still paying for it, so you ensure the item has adequate insurance for the value of the parcel. and its imperative to use signature on delivery.

Hermes aren't the worst. They aint the best either.

What does the tracking show? if it shows signed for, then you will win the chargeback. Send them detailed screen shots of the tracking system, and ensure you put the tracking number in to the PayPal resolution console. If it shows as 'delivered' you will also most likely win.

If you don't have tracking - you won't win.

If you don't have insurance, then you'll lose the money.

@greenbean. Why did myhermes suck? Order was delivered

@Stevenbills, this is largely your fault. Rule of thumb "If you cant afford to loose it don't take the risk". Order of this price should have gone with insurance and it wont cost up to £10 in total I suppose. Myhermes insurance will ensure a signature is taken and they wouldn't have delivered it in the bin.

I went to send an iPhone about a month ago at the post office and the cashier told me, it will only cost £7.80 to give you a peace a mind. Could you afford to loose £140 because of £7.80. Sending without insurance would only cost me £2.80

We always want to believe it will get there but WHAT if it all goes wrong?

Whenever I am selling a high end item, I always put insurance into the equation and it will reflect on what price I sell for.

I hope it all works out for you.

I am I insuring everything over £30 with a signature
This is the first one that's caught me out
Drivers are keeping parcels when customers are out and selling them in our gym so it's to dodgy as they get 50p a parcel they justifying nicking it's a joke

In terms of HOW myhermes conduct their deliveries, they sux.

Tend to be unreliable for any sellers, let alone the recipients of the items.

Onus is still on the seller, of coursr.

But then the OP is spesh, so we need to cut him some slack here.

OP, submit all your proof and hope for the best - chargebacks are tough but not impossible to fight off

I dont think you have read what I posted.

What does the tracking say?

post the route here if need be. If it says delivered, then that is a good thing.

Re: eBay won dispute now a PayPal chargeback

Have you read the policy on paypal's legal page for chargebacks?
I'm not sure if it's different in the UK but here in the US, sellers
are covered for chargebacks as long as they have tracking that
shows delivered to the address on the account. The only time
you are not covered for a chargeback in the US is if it is for
item not as described.

That puts you at a 70/30 advantage :) Should be ok.

Re: eBay won dispute now a PayPal chargeback

If you have proof it was delivered, you should win the case. I have had this problem before. Tracking clearly shows " delivered/left in mailbox" and buyers say they didn't receive it and try to open a case.

shanni 04-21-2016 05:43 AM

Re: eBay won dispute now a PayPal chargeback

if you win the case that's all well and good but could leave you a customer with a grudge if they never received it .

i would have used royal mail who are much more trustworthy and don't leave stuff in bins and the like .

The fact you offered free postage shouldn't stop you using a good service for the simple fact you can claim it back as a chargeable expense from the tax man

Win or lose, there is a lesson to be learnt here .

good luck .
