fulfillment center vs taxes... interesting questions

Hello Everyone ;)

just been on the phone last few days talking with fulfillment centers in UK..

seems like chinese sellers are using them to sell on ebay.co.uk without paying UK taxes. The fulfillment centers just post their items from UK to UK clients.

I wonder if thats legal ? / somehow risky ? / common for ebay sellers ???

So why not to have a business in Panama and ship items directly from UK fulfillment centers to UK clients...
just to pay some import customs taxes but no additional taxes (VAT) from sale

could you pls share your view on that topic?

ps would it work also in USA ?

Have a Nice Week

yeah lots do it but not legal atall. Not really a issue if you're sat pretty in China, HMRC aren't going to go over there and drag you to the UK for tax evasion or whatever.
Can be a issue if you're sat in the UK though. Doesn't matter where the company is, if the item is sent from the UK you're supposed to pat vat (if you're over the iirc 83k turnover)

Of course, Chinese Sellers are allowed to do whatever they want....especially on ebay.

May I share the pipe you are smoking from?

There is too much payola involved for a blanket ban on Chinese trade.

The End.

Rubbish. China exists on that sort of trade, and the UK don't want a war with China. Ever. Our governement would much rather make sure they kill off a few thousand more disabled and vulnerable people to raise the budget.

On a side note, China postage prices are extremely cheap. How they can sell an item for 99p on fleabay and make a profit surprises me. I mean a 1st class large stamp costs us 96p in the UK. Now they come to our home territory and will do the same thing? that frustrates me, because now they will yet again dominate the cheaper side of the marketplace + ship items quickly!

But anyway, China is a money factory in itself. No country will push them away.

Chinas postal system is government subsidised, to keep the trade alive otherwise they would have billions of people without jobs costing them way more than a subsidised postal system!

It really frustrates me as well...all my ebay products have now been taken over by Chinese dropshippers and its killing me. They even copied all my listings :)
