DHL shipment under clearing for 3 days now, any help
 

Hi guys first time posting on this site, unless I have posted before and can't remember!

So I have had no issues with importing in the past, a shipment of mine arrived in London on Saturday evening, has been in customs since, and states the following:

Further Details:

The shipment is pending completion of customs inspection.
Next Steps:

The status will be updated following customs inspection. A DHL representative shall attempt to contact the importer if additional requirements are necessary.

I have rang in a few times since than and on my last call today they got through to customs and told me that my parcel was going security examination, and that it was normal procedures, and that the only thing i can do is keep an eye on tracking the goods are toys non branded with no logo or trademark, anyone been in a similar situation, I urgently need these goods!

If there's nothing fishy about the shipment, all you can do is wait for customs to finish their examination. :(

Welcome to the forums - all you can do OP is just wait at the moment.

Toys non-branded....BUT do they resemble branded toys?

If these toys resemble branded ones ie they are unlicensed copies, then your shipment is at serious risk of being seized.

And there-in lies your answer...chances have been lowered for getting the items, sad to say.

sorry just to elaborate, they do resemble branded toys however the brand owner does not make the exact same toys, so for instance they can be resembled to the tv show for example, do this make a difference or is it still the same situation.

They would have told you if it was seized. It seems like usual inspection. Although I wouldn't call to give attention to the package...

The Chinese sweatshop that manufactured them would not have the permission of the rights holder meaning they fall into the same category as counterfeit goods from a "legality" point of view.

Whether you receive the goods will depend on how much digging customs and excise decide to do.

Clearance event is still a delay of some kind.
You need to click more info to see what the description says near your 'clearance event' on the tracking.

It can be because you owe fees for a previous parcel, or it is still being inspected , or its because they want invoices etc..

there are many reasons but your parcel wont move from heathrow (for example) if it says clearance event.

If it doesnt say anything helpful you will need to call them.

All fees previously have been paid so its definitely not that, I am just hoping it is just going under inspection and will be cleared soon/.

Hey guys,

Just thought I would update the thread, it is still with customs since sunday :( and the last two updates have only stated "clearance event", and still says the same thing under "Further Details", but hey I am still hopefull..

Did your shipment cleared? It's not normally takes that long

Sounds like seized. Your supplier can contact shipper to know for sure.

Nope still has the same status, and every other day or so it is updating as clearance event.

He has tried on two occasions however he has said on both times that from dhl he has been told that they are checking, and that it is a normal check.

Pm me I will give you customs phone number they will tell you over the phone about issue

But it's seems like it's going to seize or waiting for report to comeback
If they seize status will chnage to contact dhl

I routinely get shipments stuck in customs as I ship internationally everyday and usually like many here have stated its a non-event simply a routine check. However once in a blue moon I get an package stuck for up to ten days. I usually use fedEx but I have the same experience with DHL as well.

Customs is customs after all!

and everyone is correct there is not a thing you can do!

For instance when I bring fright in to the USA from Canada I usually use an independent freight carrier but I use Fedex as my importer because they are so much better at clearing customs then anyone else. (FYI you can use DHL for shipping and still hire Fedex for your customs clearance!) Fedex makes the paper work look perfect and they know how to grease the skids and with the type of product I buy the market is so trasatory that every day I wait on the product I lose money.

So two months ago I had 16 large boxes coming from Hong Kong and they landed in Cincinnati Ohio and I got the same message from FedEx tracking.

Pending Customs Inspection

Of course I called my representative with FedEx and they told me they would put a request into customs and I figured that would fix it. Well not so! Day after day I waited and waited and I called FedEx and as it turns out you really can't do anything about it!

but this I did find out. I had my packages held 2 - 3 days many times simply because of where i import and export from and the quantity but I never received a package that had been opened.

They always x-rayed them!

These ones they had for weeks were all opened and everything was gone threw and the boxes had customs notes to that effect all over them.

I ended up losing my shirt on that order......

but I did get the items.

Also if its any consolation my items we similar to yours in that some were original and some were not original but they all came through.
