Help needed with phone verification.

To cut a long story short I have been unfairly suspended from ebay. I have followed various instructions to get another seller account such as using a new bank account etc however I am not sure how to go about the phone verification. There are various methods on how to complete this phone verification and I'm not sure which one to use nor am I sure exactly what I'm doing because some of the instructions haven't been explained cleary. Another thing is some methods for the phone verification make you sign up for a subscription to pay each month which is something I don't want to do as I will only use the service once.
What i would like to know is a quick and simple way of completing the phone verification process in a step by step guide. Most importantly please advise on a method where I don't have to sign a subscription or pay monthly. I don't mind a one off payment but i don't want to pay each month because i'm only going to use it once. please help thanks.

Many virtual phone companies are offering free trial for certain days. If you just plan to use it one time, then just cancel it off after the verification.

ok which companies? remember i'm in england, uk and quick and easy is the key.

Quick and easy is the lazy way out. If you can not afford to pay the subscription for a phone service, why sell on ebay? You factor in the COST of such services in your item prices. A phone is recommended for those 'surprise' ebay/paypal calls.
There are several choices, voip, tamar. All are mentioned on the forum:peace:

I recommend Ringcentral. Always works for me and they do a free trial. Calls are forwarded to mobiles no problem.

I always keep my numbers active though, at least for as long as the associated ebay/paypal account is unrestricted.

I am going to try Ringcentral. It was the first one that I found and it has a free trial.

I think I read on this forum that after you have been verified, you can edit your number and use a mobile number.

I know I had my mobile number on one of ebay accounts but that was opened a long ago. Not sure if all that has changed now.

RingCentral only have 0800 numbers on the free trial.

You can get free numbers from voipfone.co.uk if you only want to verify ebay sellers account (0536 I think, something along those lines anyway)

If you want to verify payPal with the same number your going to need a local number to the account (same area code)

I personally recommend voipfone, there local area code numbers work lovely for £1.99 (can cancel straight away) . You do need to top up minimum £5 if your going to have the calls diverted to a mobile or landline, but I have created about 20 accounts and still have £1.50 left! (Cost per minute of each call)

you only get one 056 free number with voipfone but you have to set up an account and download software, and they will expect you to purchase another number I would assume

Re: Ringcentral... I got a free London Number on the trial. I then subscribed which is about £15 a month and you can create as many additional numbers as you like for a couple of quid a time (these can be deleted any time) billed monthly. They have area codes for most cities across the UK.

Call diverts are free with the inclusive minutes and you also get free voicemail and various greeting options.

to get free trial ringcentral want card details and say you can cancel within 7 days by calling them, doubt free trial is useful for ebay verification as they are probably recycled numbers

Even if these companies don't offer a free trail i take it that they don't tie you into a minimum 12 month contract or so. so if i paid for the first month get registered with ebay and then cancel with the phone company without any penalties would i be able to to this?

captainjack1980 08-09-2009 05:37 AM

Yes you would indeed. But as has been recommended it is better to have an active phone number for the life of your accounts.

Not this company but virtual number sellers in general tie you in for 6 or 12 months but if you cancel after about 4 or 5 mths they dont enforce it, its in terms and conditions for those that take the pee, I think. Well my experience..

dburnside 08-11-2009 12:38 PM

soho66.co.uk does them for £2 month, i use them for all my accounts, need £2 for credit to recieve calls but that is used for all numbers

Tesco Internet Phone - Tesco Telecoms

robd1. I wish I knew that a few months ago when I tried to use a public payphone to verify my phone number. I received the call but i could do a dial tone.

Run in to your local gas station armed with a banana in your pocket , say to the clerk when the phone rings follow the instructions and enter the code or i will blow your head off.............LOL

Actually , if you really want to make some money then just plan to rob a bank with virtually the same method..............LOL

There are easier ways to verify ebay than this .

Once you have considered the most difficult solution to your problems it is only then that the easy fix becomes apparent.
