eBay Reg Checklist - Is everything right?

Suspended today due to account linked to previous suspended acccount - This is my main source of income therefore desperate need to get back on ASAP - within a couple of days and start selling basically.

Firstly, I will log onto register in Mcdonalds Wi-Fi for new eBay/Paypal account

-New email address
- New virtual Visa card
- New bank account
- Slight changes to my personal name and address
- About to register for UK VOIP phone number

Anything else i need to do?

Have cleared cookies, history, etc etc..

In addition, once registered under new IP address in mcdonalds will i be safe to log on to ebay under my old banned IP address at home?

cheers

No you wont. Depending on what sort of connection you have, you may find resetting your router, leaving it unplugged for 5 minutes and you will get a new IP.

Don't forget, if someone has used mcdonalds, and got banned, you will follow!

Interesting and Valid point, thanks for that. May have to try my router at home.

Also, im signing up for voipfone BUT it wont let me register with my LIVE email. its aksing for email account from service provider...I dont have one?

can some one shed some light ,cheers

getaroundebay 08-15-2009 06:04 AM

Yeah, if you are with sky, bt, tiscali, you can get one for free.

I don't know if it will work, but goto mail.com, they have lots of free email addresses. If not, ask a friend, you won'y be able to get on to voip otherwise, wont be able to start selling.

getaroundebay 08-15-2009 06:08 AM

I can change my ip address in 5 minutes just by unplugging the router.

If you have sky tv you can get a free email at sky.com which will work for voipfone

getaroundebay 08-15-2009 06:23 AM

I don't know, all you can do is try it.

go to ipchicken.com before you do to find out your current ip.

ash213 08-15-2009 06:50 AM

getaroundebay 08-15-2009 06:55 AM

ash213 08-15-2009 07:03 AM

diverted to mobile, but not coming through to mobile yet...does it take a while for the system to register the divert?

ash213 08-15-2009 07:16 AM

What do i do now?

oompaloompa 08-15-2009 07:40 AM

who is your provider? check forum for changing ip threads, there are fiddley was of doing it via your router, sometimes. Best to go for dynamic ip, usually broadband or perhaps an iphone tethered

Hi,ash and Welcome.

Virgin Media broadband is a strange system. The IP is what is called a slow Dynamic. In other words, it takes more than the unplugging of the modem to get a new IP. What you can do is speak to Virgin & see what they will do for you. Maybe consider Wireless with Virgin: that will give you a new IP. Or if you are computer savy change the Router MAC address & that will give you a new IP

What will help is if you can tell the forum exactly what gear you have for the broadband.:peace:

hi im using wireless through virgin. my equipment is a d link router and a bog standard virgin media modem.

GreenBean 08-15-2009 08:45 AM

'G' router or the newer 'N' router? 'Cos if it's the 'G' you can likely call them & get upgraded to the 'N'. Was no cost for it about two months ago

Its an old router from the bay.

didnt get it direct from virgin, so doubt i can upgrade? only thing from virgin is the modem.

GreenBean 08-15-2009 08:51 AM

Why not try? Anyhoo, if that fails, you can change the MAC address

Sorry. We're currently experiencing technical difficulties and are unable to complete the process at this time.

I verified an account about 3 hours ago.

It is all automated and there are 1000's of glitches on eBay!

I'm sure it will sort itself out!

How many ebay accounts do you have? and how long do they usually last for?

getaroundebay 08-15-2009 03:54 PM

I normally have 2-4 on the go all the time for different products.

I go silly though, if you just stick to £300-£500 a month on each account, they will last a long time as long as you don't trip up, get any silly negs/low DSR's.

But I find it very tedious trying to manage the accounts on a daily basis, (switching profiles, new IP's, slow mobile broadband)

Normally if I bring in £2-3K in 2 or 3 weeks I lose the accounts, (Limited PP), and just start again.

But it helps to have a few accounts ready.

Very helpful mate.

I will work on a few more accounts, i take it every new account needs a fresh IP ? (the biggist problem i have)

I am to have FOUR accounts at any one time, ready to list if any of the others fark up.

getaroundebay 08-16-2009 04:38 AM

Yeah you want a new IP for each one.

Also for people whose income is ebay, I normally advise to have accounts over the 21 day hold.

IE over 20 DSR's. Makes life easier when switching!

GreenBean 08-16-2009 05:36 AM
