account suspension - worth providing ID?
 

I opened a new (3rd) stealth account back in Feb.
Mobile tethering, fresh Firefox container etc.
Waited 2 months to list something I knew wouldn’t sell, but let it relist 6 times to build up trust.
2 months after that listed 2 items, (2nd hand clothes - circa £10) sold both, positive feedback.
2 weeks later, banned.
Did a Chat. Some excerpts

'This is a safety measure'
'First you need to provide proof of ID'
'Once you have passed this you should be fine'
Stressed it must be a photo of the original and not a scanned copy.

2 questions - Is it worth providing ID, or will, in the forums experience, I still get banned.
I use a laptop for ebay, so if I obtain ID from a vendor on this site, can I take a picture of the screen with my camera & load that picture to the laptop? Would that work? (brand new phone)

ID should be submitted as is, no screen photos.

So the ‘document ‘ as provided by the marketplace vendor, just upload to ebay?
Should I cleanse it first?

Use BatchPurifier to clean any EXIF info from it, and then upload it.

Send the original documents. And yes, its definitely worth a try.

uploaded ID (worryingly to a url with a fraud suffix)- web chat advised been passed to a specialist team, and that web chat dont have the tools to re-instate themselves.

Whilst saying its just a precaution & standard procedure, the quoted 72 hours is now 36 hours overdue.


I'll have another webchat late to assess progress, but am worrying the account is lost.

Probably is ...

You have to keep trying until you pass an account.

I went through 8 before the 9th one passed.

no it is not worth. make a new account takes 5 minutes. NEVER wait until you list. this increases your risk of suspension by a lot. make an acc list a used harry potter book and chill for 3-4 days and you have a perfect account and you can sell anything on it

Not very good advice that, is it?
As per the OP, have already made sales on the account before the suspension.

Now had reinstatement email.
All good.
Just a learning from this experience.
The suspension email, whilst having the identical MC113 text
It didn't have MC113 in the email subject.
