Wise no longer accepted !! MC011 Restriction
 

Hey people. Hope you're well.

First I received a payment hold restriction. I was requested to send ID-passport + bank statement which is perfectly legit since I don't do anything shady.

Then as a reply, I received that the bank statement was not accepted. So I contacted eBay's customer service. Everyone told me there was no issue with the bank statement or the documents I have sent.

Fast forward few days I contacted them again and they said Wise is no longer accepted due to being an online bank and that I should add another bank with a physical presence in the UK since they have new rules for money laundering etc.

Right after this, I've also received an MC011 Restriction, which I have passed in the past and It ain't that difficult to solve.

Which bank can be used since I am not a UK resident?

Does Monzo Work?

If they have indeed told you the bank must have a physical presence in the UK then Monzo will not work.

They are looking for an established 'high street' bank who will do full identity checks. I suspect they know you're going to struggle to get once as a none resident.

As an aside Wise is acceptable, I use them myself. It's you who they're suspicious of, not your choice of bank.
