Problems with cost of ebay

Need a stealth address for new eBay/PayPal. Was looking at PO Boxes and it's sodding £95 for 6 months with Royal Mail! There's no way I can afford that.

Doesn't help that PayPal are now holding several hundred pounds until May or August and that's pretty much ALL the money I have. In a very very very tight financial situation :/

Tried using a real address before, not mine so I had no access but still, a real address, but a really unreasonable buyer wanted to return an item. I emailed him personally 3 times with the real return address. Did he listen? He returned it to the Stealth address and reported me! I'm just afraid that if I pick an address out if a hat, I'll get another unreasonable customer at some point and the same thing will happn :(

I only have 2 bank account left to play with too as nowhere else will give me one because of my bad credit rating. You know, the bad credit rating I've got because I've never had a credit card/been in a large debt/had a loan etc...
Bloody stupid!

Why not work, and sell online? Maybe that'll help you.........

You've got some of the tools you need in place already, you need to spend money to make money. There are cheaper and better alternatives to a RM PO Box do some research on line.

Golden rule: Always have access to the address or alternatively refund and tell them to keep the item. You always have choices in how to deal with awkward buyers you just need to make sure you choose the right one.

Good luck

Thanks.
I know of a building that has closed down and is unoccupied in my town. Providing I stick my real return address on the back of each package I send out, could I use that?

I think you've missed the point. Having access to an address means that you can actually receive and collect mail from there.

If e/b send you a letter for acc verification or raising limits what are you going to do then? Your account will be dead in the water.

Yeah, I know, I get it. But I only have £1.00. Not lying.
I'm living at home, with parents and can't go out to work because of a rare autoimmune illness that is extremely exhausting. Not claiming benefits of any kind.

I've used up all the friends/relatives addresses (the ones that allowed me to anyway)
eBay was my only source of income and I'm not getting the funds released until August!
I have a bunch of stock I need to shift.

I have a couple of domain names that I'm not using but I can't accept online payments without PayPal. Google Checkout requires people to already have an account to place an order. Most people won't go to that trouble. And any other payment processor (sagepay, worldpay, paypoint etc...) all require a set-up fee or monthly subscription.

I have the new IP, the bank account, the Stealth name, a new mobile number and the stock to sell. I just don't have an address i can use for free that I have access to :(

And thank you, by the way. I know I'm being difficult!

I guess then you need to work with what you have and what you can get but tbh I don't think the account will last all that long if there is going to be a recurrence of getting fully e/b verified and selling limits raised by letters being sent by them to your registered address which has apparently happened to several users in the last week or so.

From what you've said you seem to have burned a few accts/addresses. Maybe you need to change your business model/practises before you do anything on another new account.

Good luck anyway

Hmmm ... let me get this right in my head .... £3.65p a week is too much for an address .... have I got that right?

:suspicious:

I am going to PM you in a moment as a bit sensitive potentially.:ballchain:

No, I understand that it's not too much money.
It may not be much money at all but I cannot afford it. I'm in debt with Sky for £24.50 that I can't pay!

As I said, eBay was my only way to make money and with PayPal holding everything I've made for the last month, I do not have much at all. When people go on about being desperate for money and times being hard, there should be a picture of me! I can't even afford £7.20 for my medical prescription...

I've responded to yourself via PM, I would have a careful think through your options & review what the best course is for you. I've outlined these to you. I would consider it in all seriousness.

Getting a P.O from RM or any other alternatives as discussed on here will resolve the issue you stated in your very first post.

The ball is now in your court. The final decision is ultimately yours.

I saw what the thread maker posted, i was just wondering if you used P.O yourself?

Please don't hurt me :surrender:

GrannyT 02-26-2012 09:55 AM

@OP

If you have no money but you have stock you can go onto EB and log into the community portal. Search there for a selling assistant. That will enable you to get sufficient funds in to lift yourself off again. You will probably lose money on the deal but right now you are between a rock and a hard place.

Of course this is only of use if what you are selling is not vero or 'Veronica Lake'

OP, I have to agree with GrannyT.

If times are that bad, and you ain't got a pot to p*ss in, then get someone else to sell your stock for you to free up some cash.

Good luck.

I unfortunately cannot give you a qualified answer to this for the simple reason that I have never used a PO Box to date; I may well do so at some point though.

Remember this - if you use a PO box the Royal Mail will give full details of who it is registered to to ANYONE who asks for it

You need to brain storm and explore ever possible avenue open to you.

Not sure what products you have or if you even have any, however there are other venues you could try that are free where people will purchase locally and pay cash.

sell something else of value or porn it at cash converters to raise the funds.

Buskin ?

Wait till giro day or get a job.

Either that or go into hibernation and make a master plan for when your 180 are up.

oompaloompa 03-01-2012 07:31 AM

RM mailboxes publicise info, which is ok if you give it out anyway on the auction re business account, but not if you prefer more privacy and certainly not if
it is a residential address you want.

think you need to work on your health first actually, you say you cannot leave the house? and you are a young woman? that is not acceptable, pm me and we can discuss, I have some tips.

re addresses......there are all half measures, the very best way to have an acc is to have a real accessible address, however an address can be changed at later date.
