Problems with stealth account & ebay customer service

I got the foillowing message when trying to relist an item:

Attention sellers:
Attention:
To keep eBay safe, eBay reviews the accounts of members who are actively selling with multiple user IDs. While your accounts are being reviewed, you won't be able to sell with any of your accounts.

To begin the review of your accounts so that you can start using eBay again, Call us to speak with an eBay Customer Support agent. Please have a list of all your eBay user IDs available

We'll review your accounts and get in touch with you to let you know when you're able to sell on eBay again or if we need more information.

I called them as instructed with details of my other ebay account as instructed but the customer service agent had no idea what the message was about or what to do. He told me that there are no issues on my account. I was given a 3 day selling restriction which was lifted a while back and that the selling limitation is an account issue.

He told me to go to the support section for suspended/restricted accounts and sent them an email. Which is what I have done.

Has anyone else had this sort of message/restriction?

eBay stealth Account Advice

After creating a stealth ebay and paypal account successfully. I listed 5 buy in now items in the Mobile Phones category.

A few hours later my ebay account was suspended for suspicious activity.

This has now happened twice.

Is the mobile phone category high risk? Or did I list too soon after creating the account?

How long should I wait before listing items?

Should I make a few purchases first and build up some feedback?

I think you answered your own questions

GreenBean 07-22-2012 07:12 AM

So you have more than one account?

Give more info to ensure accurate replies.

Hi, my 2 posts are separate issues. GreenBean has put them together for me.

In the first post, I have 2 legitimate accounts, which I have been using to sell.

The second post relates to stealth accounts that I have created.

So it seems you have linked your stealth acc to your legit account.......:pop2:.......:pop2:

Selling mobile phones on a new account straight away is a NO NO

Need to know more how old these accounts are

At this point, if you have a selling restriction on non-stealth accounts, you have likely linked yourself.

There's more to unravel,:ranger:

Hi, thanks for the replies. These 2 issues are completely unrelated.

The stealth accounts have been created on a different IP address, address, computer, new VCC and number. There is no link to the existing legit accounts.

I think that the problem with the stealth accounts is that I am listing mobile phones too early.
Any idea of how long I should wait before listing mobile phones.?

I will create a new stealth account, list a USB powered light and see if my account gets suspended.

With regards to my legit accounts, I have sent an email as suggested by ebay support. I just don't understand why the message would ask me to call their support if there support don't understand what to do. I've just been off ebay live chat and was told the same thing as the telephone support agent told me. He can't find any issues with my account or why there is a restriction. He also called it an account issue for which I have to send an email for it to be sorted.

Hi,

Here is an update on a new stealth account:

I have listed a low risk item: USB LED Light.
It has been up for more than 12 hours with 1 bid.

I'm tempted to list my high rusk item but my brain is telling me to wait.

Any suggestions on how long I should wait?

Lheonard 07-23-2012 07:00 AM

^Listen to your brain.

I got a reply from eBay regarding my legit account.
They have unblocked me from selling within the UK but have blocked sales abroad. This makes no difference to me as I only sell in the UK.

Here is the email:

Thank you for your email. I understand that you are concerned about the block on your account "*******:::". ***, I've reviewed your account and can confirm that you are currently blocked from trading outside of the country in which you registered your eBay account. This block has been placed solely on your cross-border trade and will not impact your ability to sell domestically. To resolve this, kindly call us again at 0845-355-3229. Our hours of service are: Monday to Friday 8:00AM – 9:00PM Saturday to Sunday9:00AM -6:00PM You'll need to verify yourself with a temporary PIN when you call and here's how to get one: 1. From our homepage, click the "Contact us" link on the top, right hand side of the page. You'll be asked to sign in. 2. Enter your question and click "Call us" on the right hand side and you'll be given your PIN. Bear in mind the PIN number generated is only valid for 15 minutes, so make sure to call us shortly after having received it. You'll need to repeat this process each time you call. We look forward to hearing from you soon and resolving this matter for you. Kind regards, Karen Varley eBay Trust & Safety
